If you're #jobhunting and feel like you're hitting brickwall after another, dont give up. It's a tough market, I had decade of #productmanagement experience but the ideal role took a while to land & even had rescinded offers in btw 🤷🏾♀️ #crazyfolks
A few top of mind thoughts...
1. Network - don't be needy, this is about building relationships. They might not know of an open role, but their contact might! Check in on folks regularly too...
2. Own your job hunting strategy. Some people will apply to loads, others will be selective. The right approach depends on where in your career you are & how specialised your skillset/ambition is too (debateable)
3. Take breaks. Job hunting especially in #prodmgmt is intense! The take home tasks, research etc is almost a job on its own particularly if youve got a job & family...plus constant negative feedback will wear one down.
Permit yourself some time off, recuperate & recover
4. Celebrate all milestones. I hate that some companies think a 5/10 stage interview is required but #shrugs...so for every step forward in your interview process celebrate it. You're learning through those steps anyway...so celebrate your wins until the big offer comes in!
5. Make notes. Been through interview marathons & mixed ppl up, such that when you get a call back, you're trying to figure out what amazing things we're said/asked to carry on to the next stage 🤣
Summarise your conversations, esp if you'll need to say no, you'll have your why.
Summary: 1. Network 2. Decide Job hunting strategy 3. Take breaks 4. Celebrate milestones 5. Make notes
A few more... 6. Keep LinkedIn up to date 7. There are solid recruiters out there, make friends & get honest feedback 8. You only need one Yes, soon come🤞🏾
All the best x
