1/2: Met with US Treasury and US State reps with @USAmbSL along with @sajithpremadasa@KabirHashim4 n @EranWick. Appreciate all the humanitarian support via @USAID. Also met with the @IMFNews delegation. #SriLanka crisis is utterly complicated. Coming months will be very tough.
2/2: Fact is @IMFNews can’t lend to us until our creditors give an assurance on their agreement with #SriLanka on debt restructuring now complicated w case by A creditor. Haircut will be based on Gov of @GotabayaR agreement on fiscal consolidation.
3/2: As a responsible opposition we agree that much delayed major reforms must be undertaken to save #SriLanka. We must open up, break the shackles and engage w the world. So, we don’t want to scuttle the @GotabayaR@RW_UNP plan; but there must be one. Already very late.
4/2: @RW_UNP should present the fiscal consolidation plan. Need to go back to @MangalaLK program and then some. SOE reforms are an absolute must. But, must be done transparently and with public support. Also a social safety net is a MUST to deal with the low income. Need equity.
5/2: I offered to Chair the Public Finance Committee in @ParliamentLK so that we, as opposition, and the government could arrive at a reform agenda; a convergence. But obviously Pres @GotabayaR and @PodujanaParty don’t want our help. Having messed up so bad still doing the same.

Proposed #20Amendment to t #SriLanka constitution is without a doubt a mechanism to strengthen t Executive Presidency at t expense of t legislature. It bestows almost absolute power upon one individual; @GotabayaR. I have a series of questions if he wishes to answer.
Q1: Why did you Mr President @GotabayaR remove the limit of 30 Ministers and the limit of 40 State and of Deputy Minsiters?
Q2: Why did you Mr President @GotabayaR reduce from 14 days to 7 days; the duration between when a Bill is placed in the Order Paper in Parliament from and day it is published in the Gazette? The time was for citizens to study a Bill and object in Court if they wish to?
