So Barbara made this post on Reddit to explain what happened with the virtual ticket thing, and since I’ve been discussing RT’s communication issues recently, I wanted to address this point too. First, I’m happy someone finally said SOMETHING! (1/10)
Finally we’re getting some insight into what’s going on, rather than just being left asking questions in the dark. However, there are still a few eyebrow raising elements to this whole thing. First, why is it Barbara who’s finally speaking up?(2/10)
She says so herself, that she has no insight as to what the core issue is. So why isn’t the actual person in charge of the virtual tickets saying something? Why’s an unrelated on screen talent the one to try and give an explanation? (3/10)
2nd, why is it a Reddit post? RT has like, 4 different Twitter accounts, and a community page on their actual website. Not to mention their YouTube channel, even a community post would be appreciated. Why isn’t this information being shared in as many places as possible? (4/10)
And lastly, why wasn’t this made clear from the very beginning? If RT needed a ton of virtual tickets to be sold just for it to work, they should’ve been open about it. Because knowing the passion and dedication RT’s fans have, I guarantee a lot more would’ve been sold (5/10)
If people knew they had to reach a certain amount sold in order to get everything that was being promised. But also, I personally think if RT didn’t know if they could guarantee spending 20k-200k on this, then it never should’ve been offered in the first place. (6/10)
It’s a convention, not a kickstarter. People shouldn’t have to worry about reaching funded goals for features/products you openly advertise for your event. Maybe if RT could better guarantee holding their end of the deal when it comes to what they advertise for their cons,(7/10)
Maybe attendance would be better. Maybe you could get streaming sponsors that way. RT is still a business, right? If your product isn’t selling, isn’t it up to YOU to figure out how to improve profits and sales? (8/10)
I dunno, the more I think about it, the more this feels like an excuse, rather than an explanation. Almost accusatory, like it’s blaming the fans for not “buying enough tickets”. Or “not enough of you are attending in order for us to deliver on something we advertised.”(9/10)
I don’t want to feel guilt tripped because RT couldn’t budget properly. Because RT couldn’t sell their products good enough. Because RT made promises their bank accounts couldn’t afford. It’s nice finally getting SOME transparency, but honestly it’s too little too late. (10/10)

So, I was pretty disappointed to see this take over Raijin’s new vid. A vid that is very level headed and approaches the topic of toxicity in the fandom very rationally But, according to this person, merely bringing up this topic is enough to consider someone“not positive”enough.
So I decided to actually take a look at this list of theirs and it instantly made me crack up. Nothing says “positivity” by starting your list off talking about how much you hate other people, right?
Honestly I’m more curious as to what I’ve done that made them decide to list my name first on their little “negativity hit list” in their introduction paragraph. Especially since I know they don’t actually watch my vids, and also didn’t watch Raijin’s vid before casting judgment.
Can I be 100% honest? I’m not trying to be mean or hurt anybody feelings, I just want to be open about something that the RWBY community might disagree with me about. But you know what? 100% honest… I really, really, REALLY don’t like Fox x Neo.
And I know there’s plenty of people who DO support the ship! That’s fine! Go ahead! Do what makes you happy! And maybe it’s just because I’ve seen near constant fanart and posts about the damn ship for what feels like over 3 months now. But… I’m sick of seeing it!
Beyond the constant buzz about the ship on my Twitter feed, just like, I don’t like the actual ship itself. Not only do I think it would be massively stupid for Neo, the murderer with a grudge against Ruby, to join the heroes side at all. But to think she’d… date Fox? WHAT???
Some good news, r/Rwby have reversed the ban, and I think it’s great! Unfortunately tho, I can’t help but feel like this whole thing has only created more of a divided mentality in the FNDM. (1/5)
The comments from r/Rwbycrityxs show how hesitant they are about posting on the main sub. They rightfully feel like the mods could ban them, no matter how nice they try to be. How much sugar coating does critique really need anymore? (2/5)
What doesn’t help the situation is the fact that the people who are trying to be optimistic about the two subs working together, are getting downvoted to oblivion and met with confrontation. Even after all of this, people are still trying to turn this into a stupid war. (3/5)
Am I the only one who think this is really shitty? I’m all for banning people who harass others, but this literally lumps EVERYONE who even remotely participated in the other sub as people who do that. And it’s gross how many of the comments on this post perpetuate that idea.
Like, not EVERY person who posts on r/Rwbycritics is going to attack or harass people, and not EVERY person who does harass others comes from r/Rwbycritics. The FNDM really needs to stop acting like critics are these awful evil people all the time! Just over different opinions!
Posts like this one perpetuates an “other” mentality. “They” are the evil bad ones. “We” are the good ones. This isn’t some stupid war! It’s not the end of the world just because someone disagrees with your opinions over a cartoon!
