#AFG A resident filmed this video : “ Towards PD5, towards eve Loya Jirga tent.”
Gunfire can be heard in an area where a Taliban gathering of religious leaders was being convened in PD5, Kabul city. Despite tough security measures, the attack once more shows how security and intelligence failures continues.
Yesterday Taliban organizers of the Taliban Religious scholar meeting had banned “ Cell phones, all types of weapons, knives and scissors ✂️.”
“At least 3 explosions heard and gunfire continues over the last 30 minutes.” A local residents who lives in apartment blocks opposite the Loya Jirga tent tells me.
“Taliban security forces have fired at a suspicious locations. There is no issue around the gathering.” Khalid Zadran a spokesman for Kabul police chief says in a statement. @khalidzadran01
“Several attackers got inside.” Two residents in PD5 live in the area and witnessed the attack tells me.
Taliban Special forces dealt with the security incident in Kabul.
“Taliban Special forces from the interior ministry shot dead 3 attackers who got into a building and wanted to disrupt the gathering.” A Taliban security official tells me.
“At least 3 Taliban soldiers killed in the fighting against ISKP militants. At least 1 Talib soldier wounded. Weapons -both small and heavy including hand grenades were hidden on the 4th floor by ISKP in advance.Attackers moved into house 12 days ago.” Multiple sources tells me.
Aftermath of the complex attack. Despite Taliban security officials playing it down as “ no cause for concern.” attackers had placed ample amount of weapons inside a residential apartment well in advance.
Daish flag was found inside the apartment.
Second day of the the gathering - “ Few mortars landed in an empty space, at a parking. Mortars landed far from the gathering and no one was harmed.” A Taliban security official tells me.
On the second day of Taliban’s ulema gathering, Kabul once again came under attack with several rockets landing near the venue where Haibatullah was delivering a speech. There are unconfirmed reports of casualties.
A force of 12K was mobilised to provide security. However, these incidents show that Taliban’s opposition are strengthening with passage of every day develping lethal capabilities to launch attacks undermining Taliban’s much boasted Image as provider of security.
Fighters from the Islamic state in Khorasan ( ISKP) filmed themselves ahead of the complex attack they launched against the Taliban gathering in Kabul.

#AFG Mawlawi Mehdi Mujahid , an influential Hazara member of the Taliban, has broken away with the Taliban after he was fired as head of intelligence of Bamyan. He says 10 million Hazaras are sidelined and disenfranchised from political space by Taliban. Balkhab, Saripul.
Taliban’s rift with Mowlawi Mahdi is over the proceeds of coal mines in Balkhab. There has been a hike in demands for coal in Pakistan after the energy prices went up and the decade-long unmet energy shortages in Pakistan. Since collapse of the Republic, Pakistani businesses
flocked to the north to reap the spoils of an unregulated market and all the coal from the mines in the northern Afghanistan is now being exported to Pakistan at dirt-cheap prices.
#AFG “Taliban executed these anti Taliban resistance forces in Ragh district in Badkahshan about a week ago .” According to residents in Badakhshan province.
#AFG If this was one EPIC failure over the last 20years it was the wicked counter- narcotics strategy. The British plan of announcing payments for anyone erradicating poppy fields backfired, word soon travelled like a bullet on radio,&massive corruption on the ground was evident,
everyone wrote more land so they could get money. Spraying pesticides from sky destroying livelihoods and crops deprived poor communities and caused skin diseases as on one trip to Pachir Agam I found out.
What Afghanistan needed and still need is a long term comprehensive strategy. But with no artificial deadlines and timelines. How long did it take China? Thailand? Burma? Turkey? Pakistan? Iran?
