#bkdk amnesia. angst.

Evergreen eyes blink open, taking in their surroundings.

The first thing the man sees is white ceiling with bright lights and the encompassing equally white walls.
(a/n: this is one of the many pitches i had in mind for @BkDkAngstZine and i am very fond of it. reminder that lycoris radiata zine still has pre-orders open until july 2nd <3

`Hi, your name is Midoriya ...
It’s a familiar handwriting.

Izuku looks around once more and notes the various machines cluttered all over the room and the IV pole standing on his bedside, although there’s no drip bag attached to it or to himself.

He continues the letter.
`After the accident, well, ...
Izuku swallows, suddenly realizing how dry his entire mouth is.
`You’ve been having a hard ...
The man shuts his eyes tightly, trying his damnedest to remember what happened the night before. His memories are foggy, as if his brain has been launched onto a misty hill somewhere.
He vaguely recalls laughing (at what, he doesn’t know), sprinting in the school halls, red sneakers screeching against tiles, his mother giving him a tight hug, and an arm slung over his shoulders. All of it feels like they happened millennia ago.
Izuku groans, realizing he doesn’t remember the aforementioned accident or anything that could correlate to it, so he continues reading.
 `The doctors said that the...
Sure enough, there’s a digital clock that also has today’s date on the nightstand,a little to the right of where the letter has been. There’s also a small phone placed beside it.
Izuku reads the time.

8:29 AM.

He reads the date after.

August 4th, 2025.
`Don’t forget to take your ...
`And yeah, that’s all you n...
Izuku releases a staggered breath that he didn’t realize he’s been holding. There’s only a little bit left to read, and he finds himself half-wishing that the person who wrote this had written a longer letter.
`Hope you’re doing okay now...
He lets out a sudden bark of laughter and shakes his head. Of course he’s the type of person to write notes for his future self.
Izuku folds the letter and returns it to its original place on top of the drawer. He swings both feet off the bed and puts on his slippers, grabs the phone, and lets his legs carry him out the door.
A few nurses pass him in the corridor, greeting him with smiles and cheerful “Good morning!”s as if they recognized him; which they probably do. Izuku returns them all with polite nods and a thin smile.
There’s a stairway at the end of the hall, and one glance at the sign hanging above the doorway tells him that the stairs lead to the hospital’s rooftop.

Well, his past self did tell him to get some sun and fresh air.
When he arrives at the top of the stairs, light blinding him for a fleeting moment, through squinted eyes he can see a man leaning over the rails that barricaded the area.

From where he’s standing, Izuku acknowledges that the man has blond hair.
He’s wearing an all black attire, from his jacket, jeans, down to his boots. From the looks of it, he’s taller than Izuku, and also built in all the right places.

Izuku takes a step forward without thinking, and another, and another, until he stops right beside the stranger.
“Hey,” he says softly, making his presence known.

The man tilts his head to give him a proper look, and Izuku feels as if his breath has been suckerpunched out of his lungs the moment his eyes meet the stranger’s own.
“Whoa, your eyes are really pretty!” he exclaims in full astonishment. His hands fly to cover his mouth in horror when he realizes that he just said that out loud.
The man chuckles handsomely, blond lashes fluttering as he shakes his head, and Izuku pats his past self on the back for wishing him to meet a cute guy in the hospital.

“Are they really?” the guy asks, voice a beautiful baritone melody flowing into his ears.
“Yeah. I love red. And you got red eyes. Oh, I’m Midoriya Izuku, by the way.” He extends his hand, waiting for a handshake.

The stranger gives it a firm shake. “Bakugou Katsuki.”
Izuku directs his best smile at the other man, but then he blushes furiously when he realizes that he’s been holding onto his hand for way longer than is necessary. He drops the hand with bright cheeks and averted his gaze.

“What, uh, what are you doing here, Bakugou-san?”
Bakugou-san rolls his eyes. “Quit calling me that. It’s like you’re calling my dad, I don’t like it.”

“Oh, okay. Is Bakugou-kun alright then?”

“Hell no.”
“Katsuki-san?”

“Still no.”

“Hmm, how about… Katsuki… kun?”
The blond’s eyes grow distant for a split second. “...Whatever.”

Izuku beams. “Okay, Katsuki-kun it is!”
“And you? Are you sick or something?” Katsuki gestures his chin at Izuku’s hospital robe.

The green-haired man instinctively looks down. “Ah, well, I got involved in an accident and now I’m suffering from a weird condition. Amnesia, if you may.—
I can’t remember anything every time I wake up from a sleep.” He recalls the content of the letter, can't help but feeling like he's been giving this explanation to others countless times before.
Katsuki purses his lips thoughtfully. “So you can’t remember what you were doing yesterday? Last night? Last week?”

Izuku shakes his head.

“Damn. Sorry to hear that.”
“It’s okay, it’s not your fault.”

Katsuki turns away and goes back to staring at the parking lot down below. No sound passes between them other than the gentle breeze for a whole minute.
“Are you not allowed to go out?” Katsuki asks.

“I can leave, technically. But I have no idea where to go. It’s not like I remember where my house is.” He shrugs nonchalantly. “Besides, I’m just waiting for my mom to come back from work.”
There’s an understanding hum coming from Katsuki’s throat, and for a moment Izuku thinks that that was it, his conversation with the handsome stranger is going to end just like that.

But then Katsuki opens his mouth again.
“Do you want to drive around somewhere? I’ll take you wherever you want to go.”

Izuku’s eyes widen almost comically. “Really?! Wait, are we going to take the train?”
“No, stupid. I have a damn car and happen to be a fantastic driver.” The blond fishes a single car key from his pocket that’s connected to a keychain of a character, dangling it in front of Izuku’s face.
“Whoa, t-that’s—!” he stutters, trying so hard to recall the character’s name (he feels like he’s committing an unforgivable sin by not knowing the character’s name).

“You know All Might too?” Katsuki helpfully muses, amused by Izuku’s sparkling eyes.
“Should’ve guessed. You do look like the nerdy type.”

“Was that supposed to be an insult?”

“Not at all, Freckles.” The stranger goes to ruffle Izuku’s curls and for some reason his stomach decides to do a backflip. “So? Road trip, yes or no?”
Izuku nods all too eagerly. “God yes.” He remembers the letter. “Can we go to the beach?”

“Toldcha I’ll take you wherever you want to, didn’t I? Which beach? Dagobah?”

Izuku frowns, lips twisting in contemplation.
His memory is indeed fucked, but his past self had signed the letter in Musutafu—his hometown. He assumes that he’s currently still in Musutafu General Hospital, and Dagobah Beach is in Musutafu.

“How about somewhere… farther?”
Katsuki nods and pushes himself off the railings. “Sure, why the hell not. Let’s go, Izuku.”

Izuku tries his best to hide his smile as he follows behind Katsuki’s strong back, giddy that the handsome stranger refers to him by his first name.

#bkdk where Katsuki is a cupid but instead of bows he uses swords

Sure, it's not the most convenient method since he has to get in close proximity with his targets, but the satisfaction he gets when he lifts his arms and swings the large sword trumps the extra effort.
His targets today are a tall, jacked blue-haired guy in glasses with sharp eyes, along with his small, feisty brunette friend who is in the same study group as him.

They have great chemistry, so it seems, and Katsuki's higher-ups had ordered him to strike them both.
Katsuki rolls his shoulders and tightens his grip on his trusted sword.

His targets are currently under a tree, engaged in a conversation with their study group, but both are standing a little to the side, making it easier for him to swing his sword at them.
