I realized i never talked DEEPLY about the movie is the reason i'm here today, so today i decided to talk in a lengh extension why i absolute fucking love #BatmanReturns and why this movie is soo important to me. So, follow the thread.

After 1989, the world, especially for Batman fans, was a happy place. Batman had starred in his first serious film feature, unrelated to the 1966 series, and became a box office phenomenon and cemented the character as one of pop culture's icons. #BatmanReturns

But above all of the advantages and disadvantages that the 1989 film brought to the canon, it had personality. It was different from what had been seen in cartoons, TV series, and in a way even in comics. #BatmanReturns

Tim Burton managed to give the film a timeless quality, even though he didn't have the freedom he wanted, being a relatively new director in the field. #BatmanReturns

But after the mountain of money 'Batman' made, along with his cemented directorial credibility, he was called upon to return to the hero universe. But now with a HUGE difference: he had full free creative freedom. #BatmanReturns

He could do whatever he wanted without necessarily sticking to the “canon”. And so, one of the greatest, most cult classic Batman movies made was conceived. #BatmanReturns

If #BatmanReturns doesn't follow exactly what happens in the comics in the form of events, the personalities of its characters are very well crafted and approach the comics in a new and daring way for a common audience with their expectations based on the previous movie.

One of the things I think is really cool about this movie is that it's actually a search for happiness, in a way distorted due to its characters and dramatic due to its operatic tragedy atmosphere. #BatmanReturns

Catwoman, Penguin and Max Shreck seek something that can give them full happiness and a sense of living, to feel complete as a person. Strangely, the only one who doesn't look for a change in his lifestyle (apparently) is Batman/Bruce Wayne, [+] #BatmanReturns

what with the arrival of Selina Kyle in his life, he plunges headlong into the brief relationship, as his two personalities are so intertwined that unintentionally Selina actually represents the invasion/intertwining between these "two truths" he have. #BatmanReturns

The Penguin have the need to be loved, to be the center of attention, while having the power to control with iron fist a criminal organization. That reception to him society rejects or accepts based on the current public status he demonstrates & the power he get. #BatmanReturns

His motives remain mysterious for much of the film, as his need to be loved are fullfilled and deviates from his original plan. But when it is revealed it shows just how monstrous he is, and again making a connection by comparison to Bruce Wayne/Batman. #BatmanReturns

Oswald Cobblepot is the monster disguised as a respectable person (making a bond with Max Shreck) different from Batman (who is a respectable person who uses a monster as a mask), what still suffers from the trauma with his parents (as well as Bruce), [+] #BatmanReturns

but due to his life full of rancor and crimes he chose a sadder, violent and tragic path, proving his identity as a monster. #BatmanReturns

Catwoman, in addition to the anarchic concept from the comics of "taking from The Man", also wants to be happy and feel complete as a woman, even if her mind is already in shambles. #BatmanReturns

With her 9 cat lives related to her "deaths", not necessary physical, but psychological, are reflected in her suit and in their actions, ending up with her getting darker and darker as she doesn't have a beacon of hope to do justice. #BatmanReturns

The lack of fulfillment drives her to madness, a madness she enjoys for not seeing justice for bad people in a twisted world, like her last scene from film reveals. #BatmanReturns

There will be no castle with a prince charming waiting for her, just as there will never be a princess waiting for Bruce Wayne, because their lifestyles and their POVs about justice don't allow them to be together. #BatmanReturns

Batman lives in an almost mechanical crime-fighting system, practically without enjoying much the life of his alter-ego, Bruce Wayne. But when he falls in love, he goes without brakes and without fear. #BatmanReturns

But whether because of himself or external factors, his problems intersect, because Bruce Wayne is Batman, and vice versa, and as he respects both their identities, and the positive driving force whi guides him, prevents himself from falling into madness. #BatmanReturns

One thing that's a fact is that the character doesn't appear much in the movie, but when he appears, it's something really necessary to the plot and you feel good to see him on screen. #BatmanReturns

He literally arrives in the movie, does his part, saves the day and helps the story move forward. In a way, all the characters in the movie are opposite mirrors of Bruce /Batman, which doesn't make the the character doesn't have so much screen time a bad thing. #BatmanReturns

Bruce/ Batman is happy with the way he lives. He works, he goes out with girls, but no one knows much about his life, what he does or doesn't do. What does it matter to him that all night he's there, watching over the city, being Batman and protecting the people. #BatmanReturns

The fourth and important character in the film is Max Shreck. A vampire in the most realistic sense of the thing, manipulates people to then suck their life and energy (literally speaking). Also, Christopher Walken fucking rules, aways. #BatmanReturns

His intention is power, control, dealing with the constant madness from a city of madmen, while trying to keep his good guy mask over his illicit acts. #BatmanReturns

Who is disposable he discards, who's dangerous, he negotiate with, who has power but doesn't know how to use it, he manipulates. #BatmanReturns

With Penguin, they are both like-minded people who form a certain invisible friendship, at the same time they would betray each other if necessary. #BatmanReturns

One of the most interesting elements of the film is how he handle information. You have bits and pieces of how certain things happen, and your mind just puts the pieces together and sets up the plot. #BatmanReturns

Also, lots of praise to the strong influence of German expressionist cinema in the film, evolving what was seen in the 89 film in terms of style. #BatmanReturns

But what can we say about what the film is about? Justice. Duality. Drama. Darkness. All are present in #BatmanReturns, which yes, has its small flaws as a film and because of some controversial choices aside, manage to make it even more special.

The fact that Batman appears little, or even the mixture between the the real and the surreal do not take weight from the film as a Movie and comic book adaptation. #BatmanReturns

The feelings are real, the drama are real, within a scope taken from the comics but taken much more seriously than the spectator was used to a comic book movie back then. #BatmanReturns

Tim Burton was aware of that, and it was his brand within the Bat-Movies: it was a comic book with a stylized reality, but even so serious and real, and dark as the character's atmosphere calls for. #BatmanReturns

This movie (together with TMNT 2) made me a Comic Book and a movie fan for life, and i have to thank it so much for, for the friends 'ive made and moments i've lived based that back then, i was one of the few children not scared by this film. #BatmanReturns.

Even that the previous Warner management trying to tarnish the Burton's legacy with cheap nostalgia to build up a mess of an cinematic universe, to disguise their completely lack of vision and talent, [+] #BatmanReturns

still not change that #BatmanReturns is one of the most important MOVIES (CBM or not) ever made and every year his legacy keeps stronger as ever. This my confort movie, my christmas mkovie, my CBM movie and i have a deep passion and i'll be aways heavily defensive about it.
