How did #IndiGo capture 55% of the Indian Airline Industry? 🇮🇳

A thread 🧵
IndiGo has been a dominant player in the aviation industry for a while now but what led to its success 👇

The Low-Cost Carrier Model
IndiGo was one of the first companies to bring a low-cost model to the market 🧑‍✈️

They did this by using a single type of aircraft, fewer staff and cutting other extra costs 📉

This led to much cheaper fares than competitors and hence more air traffic ✈️
Apart from low fares their efficiency has been an industry benchmark 🔢

With one of the highest on-time performance ratings and fast turnaround times they have made air travel simpler and affordable 💸

Leading to a 55% market share 🥧
However, is it all glory for them? 🤔

There have been rumours of staff being unhappy at IndiGo which led to a “mass bunk” and caused a delay of 900 flights in one day 😯
This has caused IndiGo’s share price to fall by nearly 4% and inquiries are underway as to what was the cause of the delay ⏱️

Have a look at some of the fundamentals of IndiGo and if you want to do more research, check out our screener 👇

#RelianceIndustries down 8%, ONGC down 12%

Here’s why 👇
Reliance and ONGC have faced a bloodbath since morning with their share prices taking a huge fall 📉

And it’s all because of one of their main products: Oil 🛢️
#Reliance saw a fall in their share price because the government imposed an export duty of ₹6 per litre on petrol & aviation fuel and ₹13 per litre on diesel 💸

This is so that the government can benefit from the rising exports 💰
