Mass shooting at our parade in Highland Park on the same block where we were. 15-20 deep sounding noises resonated through the air about 40ft from us on Central. #highlandpark
At first I thought it was the old classic fire truck having engine issues and then I thought fireworks, but then it all registered to me as I noticed people start running towards us.
I picked up my daughter and ran for cover around the corner. I eventually reunited with my wife and my son.
Multiple people shot and dead. When we left the area an hour later, there were cops with assault rifles everywhere still looking for shooter.
Tactical units with full military gear were setting up by the fire station near the highway entrance and water park on Central. We are safe at home two miles away from the business district. HP sent an announcement to stay inside and lock our doors.
I am deeply saddened for the victims and their families.
This was us a little earlier during the parade. We are on the same block and across the street about 40 ft from the shooting which I have heard happened in front of Walker Brothers at Central and Second. The picture with the fire trucks is before the parade started.
About 10 minutes before the shooting.
Top left circle: shooter on roof. Small circle: where we were before running. Bottom circle: shooting victims.
@0hMyyGoat@Hoont@WholeMarsBlog I realized it was not a classic 1920s fire truck backfiring or fireworks, then screamed to my wife, my kids, and my father-in-law to run. My wife and son ran as fast as they could. My daughter fell behind and I scooped her up in my arms.
@0hMyyGoat@Hoont@WholeMarsBlog I looked back at grandpa and saw him down on the ground. I thought he was shot. I kept running to at least save my 5 year old daughter. I then turned the corner and completely lost my wife and son. I kept running with my daughter in my arms crying profusely.
