I am a board-certified physician. I worked for an epicenter hospital during the pandemic, treated COVID-19 patients. Once celebrated as 'healthcare hero', here I am in 2022, being denied expedition of my EAD forcing me out of work. @USCIS@POTUS@USCISDirector@SuzanneMonyak 1/6
It takes hours and multiple calls to get the customer service on USCIS phone. Finally, when I could speak to a real person, I was told that request will be lodged & documents will be requested if director considers my case. 2/6
But no one from immigration contacted me for any documents. They just sent an email that request is denied. They did not give any opportunity to present my case. They just denied it. 3/6
I fit almost every criteria that USCIS mentions for expedition.
1)Emergency situation: I am healthcare worker during a national emergency (pandemic)
2)Financial loss: Current processing time for an EAD is ~12 months. Unable to work for that long= financial losses. 4/6
..3)Humanitarian grounds: In spite of being an American qualified healthcare worker, I am forced to remain out of work. Research has shown that unemployment has detrimental mental health effects. 5/6
By denying my expedition request, USCIS is asking me to suffer the toll of unemployment- professionally, financially and psychologically.
I wish @USCIS treated all immigrants as humans. #Happy4thJuly 6/6
