SCOOP: @GavinNewsom is on vacation in Montana. His office had been loath to disclose the location until now.

Montana is one of 22 states to which CA bans state-funded travel due to anti-LGBTQ+ policies. It's also likely to institute an abortion ban.

I'm told that @GavinNewsom has not yet booked his return trip home, but will return to California over the weekend and be back in the office Monday.

The parents of his wife, @JenSiebelNewsom, own a ranch in Montana & the couple was married there in 2008.
Newsom spokesperson Anthony York says CA doesn’t legislate where people vacation & the travel ban only applies to spending state funds. He says CA is not paying for Newsom’s travel.

Asked if the state is paying for his security, York says the office doesn’t comment on security.

When Newsom has traveled out of state in the past, his office has shared location & precise travel dates.

They didn’t this time. After multiple unanswered q’s about his whereabouts, I asked why they weren’t disclosing the info.

Then they told me.

CA's gas excise tax is set to increase July 1
Rendon says the committee plans to investigate 2 main questions:

1- why are gas prices so high?
2- what can we do to stop it?

🧵:Senate Judiciary Committee hearing @Scott_Wiener's bill to allow minors to get vaccines w/out parental consent.

Speaking in opposition is a single mom of 6 who says her son got vaccinated at school "in exchange for pizza," against her wishes, and has experienced side effects.
"I feel that, in that age, they still don't have that mentality ... to choose if they're OK or healthy enough to make that decision," the mom says, adding that she now fears her son could die at school, and he wakes up at night struggling to breathe.
Pacific Justice Institute spokesperson says the bill, which is framed as increasing choice for minors, effectively eliminates choice, because they will have to get the COVID vaccine in order to attend school.
