THREAD: I'm worried that what happened in 2016 is going to happen again. For anyone who forgot, people pushed so hard for Bernie AND against HRC that when their candidate didn't win the primary, they were all so full of hate for HRC that they didn't vote, or voted 3rd party. 1/
And Russia, who is STILL interfering in our elections, exploited that hatred of HRC and sowed doubt and chaos to such an extent that it impacted our elections. Foreign bad actors piggybacked on US hatred for HRC and led voters to stay home. 2/
They even hacked the DNC and DCCC and released emails to harm HRC and promote Bernie. I'm not saying Bernie was *IN* on it, but they exploited that division and it WORKED. That, in concert with Jim Comey taking it upon himself to announce a probe 11 days before the election... 3/
That fucked us and we ended up with Trump, who appointed three SCOTUS justices and got us to where we are now. Let me be clear. I am ALL FOR backing your horse in the primary and working to constructively push dems left. 4/
I am FOR free healthcare and college. I am FOR expanding the court to 13 justices. I am FOR banning assault weapons. I am FOR codifying Roe and Voting rights and eliminating the filibuster. I am FOR cancelling all student debt. 5/
What I am NOT for is HELPING the GOP win by pushing SO MUCH HATE for dem candidates that when they win their primaries, people have become convinced that both parties are the same and folks should "send a message" by not voting. 6/
Russia was pushing #DemExit and #BernieOrBust in 2016 and "the message" that was sent was that donald won. So can we please make sure if our primary candidates don't win, that we back the dem that does? The alternative is autocracy, and no "message" will be sent. 7/
And I know I'll get dragged for this thread by the hard left. I'll receive rape and death threats. Maybe I'll be "klipped" again. There'll be a host of misogyny and hate heaped on me in the replies and in my DMs. But I can take it. I've survived worse. 8/
But I can't sit quietly by and watch what happened in 2016 happen all over again. I will PUSH dem leaders to do more because they can. But in 2016, risking attacks and threats, I stepped into the booth and pulled the lever for HRC because it was the right thing to do. 9/
I didn't help the GOP then & I won't now. I will fight for my candidate, but I WILL elect democrats if I don't get my way. The alternative is the end of democracy, and if you think that's a good thing, we won't just lose our seat at the table, we lose the whole damn table. END/
UPDATE: this morning, under pressure, Biden signed an EO to help protect abortion access and contraception. Dems can be pressured to act. If the GOP takes congress, they can’t be pressured to do shit. This isn’t rocket science. VOTE.

THREAD: Zoe Lofgren says the hearing Tuesday will be a “dot connecting exercise”. Since connecting the dots is my favorite thing, here are a few I’d like to see connected. We know the hearing will be about the relationship between the White House and the Capitol violence. 1/
One of the crucial Eastman emails is the famous “I implore you to consider one more relatively minor violation” of the law. He sent this to Pence’s counsel Greg Jacob on the evening of 1/6. He was trying to get Pence to delay the count for 10 days. 2/
This would have given the trump camp more time to pressure state legislatures to certify all those fraudulent slates of electors. But get this. The REASON Eastman felt comfortable asking Pence to break the law a little more is spelled out in the first half of that email. 3/
I have a crazy theory. Feels like this Donald “waiving” non-existent privilege could be in his OWN defense. We know that the DoJ subpoenaed Navarro for his communications with Donald. I figured that was because Donald advised him to defy his subpoena. 1/
We also know Bannon’s lawyer, Costello, had his communications snatched up by the DoJ - presumably because HE advised Bannon to defy his subpoena. 2/
This is super space beans, but it seems to me the DoJ could be investigating obstruction. That would explain the Navarro DoJ subpoena. It would explain the Costello records obtained by DoJ. 3/
People are asking if Cipollone has a legit privilege claim over discussions with Donald. He does as long as his advice wasn’t in furtherance of a crime. So if he told donald NOT to break the law, that COULD be privileged. 1/
For something to be privileged, the advice has to be sought. Since he told Hutchinson (according to Hutchinson), that if they let donald go to the Capitol it would violate “every crime imaginable” - and since that advice wasn’t sought - it’s likely not privileged. 2/
There could even be situations where his advice to POTUS isn’t privileged. If he advised POTUS against committing crimes, and if that advice was unsolicited, it’s not privileged. But if it was part of an ongoing chain of advice sought, it would be. 3/
I *think* Graham will attempt to use the speech or debate clause to wiggle off this hook - but as DoJ has found with Brooks - this could be considered campaign activity OR Georgia could argue that attempting to throw out votes isn’t part of one’s job in congress. 1/
In the DoJ decision about Brooks, DoJ argued “It is no part of the business of the United States to pick sides among candidates in federal elections,” 2/
DoJ went on to say “Inciting or conspiring to foment a violent attack on the United States Congress is not within the scope of employment of a Representative — or any federal employee…” 3/
THREAD :: From the @dailybeanspod 1/5/21, the day before the insurrection. "Today, in-person voting day is happening in Georgia as election officials push back on the trump claims of voter fraud, dems ask the FBI to investigate the phone call between trump and Raffensperger... 1/
as the North Atlanta US Attorney resigns early, and every living former defense secretary signs a letter saying the military will not get involved in the election."
"I never am prepared. Trump's gonna do weird stuff, but I'm never prepared" 2/
DG: "I wonder how many impeachable offenses he can commit in the next 15 days. I'm afraid to ask."
AG: "Neither of us have the cold dead blackened heart of donald trump so we just aren't capable of imagining what he's going to do next." 3/
THREAD: This is hilarious. Steve Bannon told the media June 15th out front of the courthouse "I want to appreciate the J-6 committee canceling today - you know why? Because their ratings stink and they can't compete with the Bannon trial." 1/ globalnews.ca/video/8923980/…
THEN he filed a motion saying that the committee hearings & resulting media is making it impossible for him to have a fair trial & wants his contempt trial delayed. LOL. The DoJ handed him his ass in a response to his motion to continue. WARNING: smackdowns ahead. 2/
“The Defendant’s motion gives the false impression—through general statistics about the volume of viewership of the Committee’s hearings and overall media coverage of the Committee’s hearings—that all of the Committee’s hearings and the attendant media coverage is about him." 3/
