Lately I’ve been seeing an uptick in accounts tweeting…

“I want to follow you if etc. etc…”

Everyone has the right to share these,and lord knows I’ve considered sharing them myself. There is a reason I haven’t… 1/4
Often, these tweets get a huge response making it impossible to follow even a fraction of the people back. Eventually, this leads to resentment by new followers. They will either unfollow and/or submit negative, shaming responses in future “follow me” tweets. 2/4
These followers will look attractive on the total count, but, after awhile, they will not engage - Followers like people that keep their word. They do not forget. Most won’t be patient forever. 3/4
