It's NEVER been hard to be a christian in America. There's a church on every corner. You want hard? Try growing up in a fundamentalist christian family. Or being a gay or trans person in America. Or Muslim. Or a woman. The GOP is weaponizing a victimhood mindset for its base.
A foundational frame of male, white and christian supremacy is the victimhood mindset. Extremist groups always begin with that frame: "We are being erased, oppressed, abused." Seeing themselves as victims grants extremists the the right to do violence against outside groups.
The victimhood frame grants supremacists the right to do violence against those they subjugate. The victimhood frame is starkly visible in the language of domestic abusers, who, as they do violence against women/children, say "Look what you made me do."
Millions of Christians are caring, kind people who support a diverse inclusive United States. Christian extremists know this. But the GOP and their extremist base continue to recruit using the victimhood frame because it is foundational to weaponizing their base. #BlueWave2022
Violent extremism is born out of generational trauma, of being raised in a culture of violence and dominance. Instead of offering traumatized people mitigation, support, and healing, the GOP is operationalizing more generational trauma to advance it's extremist political goals.
This is the fundamental mechanism of the GOP's white, male and religious supremacist downward spiral. They leverage political, physical violence to traumatize larger and larger populations, leaving them susceptible to recruitment by the very groups that inflicted their trauma.
This is why GOP is institutionalizing forced birth, making abortion illegal. Being pregnant in America increases domestic violence and murder against women. This is GOP shock and awe. They're not ignorant of the increased violence against pregnant women. They're counting on it.
The violence against those forced to give birth is dramatically higher for BIPOC communities, for the poor. These outcomes have nothing to do with Christ's teachings nor with "saving babies." It is white, male and christian supremacist violence designed to create systemic trauma.
Huge #BlueWave2022 is our ONLY way out of the GOP's imminent overthrow of US democratic institutions via what @SenWhitehouse calls "dark money captured Supreme Court." If we lose, look to the GOP to inflict massive trauma, based on victimhood frames, even as they win everything.
We need to understand this. In dealing with the white supremacist GOP, there is no off ramp. No negotiated solutions any more. We have to beat them soundly or it's over. If they get their knee on our throats they will never let up. #BlueWave2022

Want to make war on stupid? Then make war on white supremacy. One and the same.
The idea that any race is “better” than another is an exercise in blind self deception. Absurd theories of racial purity are designed solely to justify controlling and dominating others, based in trauma, fear, and our lowest human appetites. And it’s fundamentally not smart.
Organizations that are diverse, equitable, and inclusive, dramatically out perform organizations which are not. They just do. According to Deloitte, they are 6x more likely to be innovative and agile, 8x more likely to have better business outcomes.
The Republican men making abortion a felony fully understand that women raising children are less likely to show up in the workplace, in politics, in any place where they might challenge the power of conservative men. /1
Overturning Roe v. Wade is designed to suppress women’s political, educational and professional agency. “Keep them barefoot and pregnant and in the kitchen” was never a joke. It’s been the political strategy of conservative men for generations. /2
White, male and christian supremacists all seek to guarantee that women's first and only role is to service men/reproduce. This agenda for controlling women is what Republicans are codifying into law in Texas, Louisiana and dozens of other states. #BlueWave2022 /3
There are countless reasons why overturning Roe v. Wade, making abortion a felony, is harming women. Here’s one more. America isn’t a safe place to be pregnant. In the United States, homocide is the top cause of maternal death. nature.com/articles/d4158… /1
From the article: “Pregnant women in the United States die by homicide more often than they die of pregnancy-related causes — and they’re frequently killed by a partner, according to a study published last month in Obstetrics & Gynecology1.” /2
“Researchers revealed this grim statistic by using death certificates to compare homicides and pregnancy-related deaths across the entire country for the first time.” /3

Twice over the course of my life, women I was in a relationship with got unintentionally pregnant. In each case, these women chose to terminate their pregnancies. I was in support of those women’s decisions at the time and I’m still in support of them.
Millions of men have stories exactly like mine but they never share them, leaving women on their own to tell how abortion services helped them.
I’m not ashamed to say I am deeply grateful for the help safe reliable abortion services provided in my life.
Men who support forced pregnancy, support rape culture. That’s who these men are.
The modern GOP is a weaponized product of our dominance-based male supremacist culture of masculinity. Republican men debase, control, dominate and rape women as the central method for validating their masculinity. Overturning Roe v Wade will kill women. That’s a win for GOP men.
Woman and girls are now being forced to bring unwanted pregnancies to term. Forcing women to do so is an act of right wing extremist violence, equal to that of committing rape. If you can condone forced pregnancy, you can and will also condone rape as mens’ justified right.
