Okay so final thoughts on #TheNorthman. The attention to detail was amazing. Where it played on the Heathen spirituality was also accurate. It wasn't organized (as we understand it today.) The focus on Amleth, Olga and Amleth's quest for revenge was nothing short of awesome.
Fight scenes were fuuuuuucking bruuuuuutal. There were moments that made ME recoil and that's no easy task. Jeez! Robert Eggers absolutely indulging the hell out of his need to provide cinematography porn wasn't out of vain indulgence alone, it fit. It fit really well.
Those landscapes and scenes were well-framed, the story well-told and tight, the revelations did come as a genuine surprise but won't upon repeat viewings (not a complaint, just an observation) @bjork played that seeress memorably and did a very commendable job doing it.
Was it worth the $20 I blew on it? You're damn right it was. I'd love to see more of this like The Saga of Frithjof The Bold, The Saga of Hrolf Kraki and many others put up there on screen in a series of movies just like this one and Eggers has absolutely proven that his work
is not only worthy of an undertaking such as these but he can be trusted with it.

The only one nitpicky part that I took issue with was The Gates of Hel reference as they fought at the side or inside the volcano. It came across as a reference to the Christian Hell, which the
Norse Hel is not. The Norse Hel is a place of rest and accounts of what it's like depends largely on who is telling the story. The common thread is that it is a place of rest where those who die of old age or sickness go and that was accurate when King Aurvandil War-Raven
mentioned that he would be ashamed to have won all these battles only to die sick or old and be denied Valholl. He swore he'd die by a sword and he got his wish there. Still, at the end, not so accurate. If it were to be accurate, Amleth should have challenged Fjolnir
to a Holmgang, a duel just between the two of them to settle the entire thing once and for all. Meeting at The Gates of Hel could have been meant figuratively but then the being surrounded by darkness, fire and lava, that was the part that makes me think it was not so much
Gates of Hel (Norse) but Gates of Hell (Christian). That was really my only nitpick with the film itself. Now that I've torn it down, let me build it back up. That shit was fucking brutal and epic. It was still awesome and a true sight to behold. My one little nitpick is like a
a small scratch on a CD case. It's a small observation that doesn't truly make a large difference. The CD plays and plays well and that's what really matters. I also loved the depictions of Norse Spirituality and Ritual. The Berzerker/Úlfhéðnar ritual before a battle
was great. Then, right after that, accurate portayal of the battle tactics. Berzerkers went in and caused chaos and the Úlfhéðnar made surgical strikes intended to further cause collapse in the small society among the disarray. For me, despite the nitpick I have, I still
rate this one such a 10 out of 10 because, it's been a long time since I've seen anything THIS good come from Hollywood. Content like this is what I would pay good money on a theater experience had Hollywood simply delivered. Crazy idea, I know. Give people what they want and
they'll buy it. Radical concept but there it is. We need more stuff like this. Anyway, if you haven't seen it, I do highly recommend it. My cautious optimism gave way to total optimism to this joining the ranks of one of my favorite movies. This was nothing short of stellar.

I have to say ...this. Not every table is going to be for me. That's something I get going in. Not every game is going to be for me. The way someone DMs a game, they built the world, they did the prep, they went through the headache. Their Table, Their Rules. If I don't like them
it's something out of my control. You know what I CAN control though? How I handle it. I've left tables before. I didn't interrupt. I just bided my time until the end of the game and informed the DM that I thanked him for his time and effort but I don't think I can continue
play in his or her setting and asked for my character to be written out. No hard feelings and if ever asked it was "I'm just not a good fit with that setting." It's mature, rational and does not create conflict. It also keeps at least a modicum of decency between everyone.

Listen, I'm going to share two very unpopular opinions but all I'm asking is that you hear me out.

We're gonna have to make a hard decision here. Do you really want government involved with healthcare or not? If you do, then anti-abortion activists need to get snuggly with
government-mandated interventions. Each side claims to be White-Knighting for the other. Those on the Right claim they're saving the lives of children, those on the left claim they're saving everyone. Both are screaming for government to solidify their positions. Fact.
If you do not want government intervention in healthcare, then that means both of you will have to allow choice in the matter. All medical procedures, elective or otherwise, will be made between doctor and patient. I'm going to circle back to this point, don't worry.

Know one thing. At my funeral I will request that @iglooproducts make my coffin. I will be walled off in the middle with about three feet of cooler all around me with all manner of drinks on ice around me. When you come to see me, grab a drink. Drinks on the stiff.
There had better fucking well be music and laughter. My detractors? If they show, you may abuse them as you please. Treat them without care or mercy. In fact, if you overdrink and decide to hurl on one of them, that also gets my seal of approval. You are hereby encouraged to tell
them to fuck all the way off, make them "catch these hands" if you so desire, I just ask that you not fight each other.

There will be mead as well. Oh yes, there will be mead. there MUST be mead. Don't do some stupid shit like pouring it on the ground or on me in my honor.

I'm going to put this into a thread because it's needed. I don't know how long it will be so grab a snack and something to drink. You might need it.

Simply Put, David Is 100% Correct Here.

Sadly, David Is 100% Correct Here. Allow me to illustrate
Go ahead. Look at it. Take your time. Really take it in. There's a point that will be made and it's high time some of you got this. It's called a peony, by the way. Seriously, take it all in, the texture, colors, everything.
Let me tell you something. You've probably looked at it and, rightfully so, Ooohed and Aaahhhed at it awhile. So did I. No I'm not going to M. Night Shyamalan you and tell you it's deadly. It's anything but but let me ask you something. Was that Peony just always there like that?

Another thread, If you want to read, great, if not, that's okay too but here goes.

I'm going to surprise you with something. Yes, I own this. This is mine. There are many others like it but this one is mine, as is said in Full Metal Jacket:
So why am I bringing that up along with my Kindle laying next to it? The answer is simple. It is to make a point, and it's one I've made many times. I Do Not Support Book Burning/Content Bans.

It's my understanding that, for many of you following me,
you have an affinity or a love for this work and, surprise again, I understand it. Completely. Whether or not I have issues with the text should never be your problem. I've owned this one for many years, I also have digital copies that would be suitable for any denomination

Why I stopped listening to Alex Jones (Warning, this may be a thread)

1. He was ripping off Q posts and got caught doing it.

2. Jesus Rafael Quintana In A Bowling Alley, Alex, do your guests EVER get to speak without you running them over?

3. This is the big one (Next Post)
During one particular episode, he went into his usual hysteria and, by that time, I was already burned smooth out on it.

But then he starts sobbing. I mean he turns into a blubbering mess. I'm on my way to work and I stop because this was new to me. I'd never heard this before.
I thought he was going to drop a bomb on air and he did. He sobbingly claimed that he knew how bad things were. He claimed he couldn't tell us because we wouldn't be able to handle it.

That's when I turned him off, deleted the app and turned on the music.
