So far, 1,213 amendments have been filed to the #FY23NDAA ahead of this week's House floor debate. I suspect that figure is a record.

Hundreds of amendments will be made in order. (It was 476 last year out of 860 filed.)

TOPLINE: Progressives Barbara Lee and Mark Pocan have a pair of amendments to slash the NDAA’s price tag.

(Republicans would probably oppose NDAA if this was adopted, so look for Dem leadership to sidestep this.)

LCS: HASC Chair Adam Smith and Jackie Speier want to undo language that forces the Navy to keep five littoral combat ships in the fleet (allowing them to retire nine LCS).

DC Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton, Anthony Brown and Carolyn Maloney are pushing to give the DC mayor authority over the Guard on par with governors.

AUMF: Several amendments have been filed to repeal a bunch of old war authorizations.

Abigail Spanberger and co. have an amendment to repeal the 1991 Gulf War authorization.

Gosar and co. have a repeal of the 2001/02 AUMFs.

NUKES: John Garamendi wants to bar $ for the new ICBM, the Sentinel, and direct DoD to life extend the Minuteman III fleet.

Don Beyer and Garamendi want to fence all funding for a sea-launched cruise missile and require release of the Nuclear Posture Review as a condition.

RUSSIAN YACHT AMENDMENT: Greg Stanton filed an amendment to the NDAA prohibiting federal funds to maintain "civilian vehicular assets" such as yachts, jets, or cars, seized from Russian oligarchs or officials sanctioned by the US.

Doesn't look like there's an amendment to require women to register for a military draft this year after it was killed last year in conference. (It's included in the Senate NDAA, so will be up for discussion.)
