Jake Sullivan says Russia is looking to Iran for UAVs: Iranian govt preparing to provide Russia several UAVs, and train Russian forces to use these UAVs.
Unclear if Iran delivered any of these UAVs to Russia already
Sullivan: when I talked about the severe costs that Russia has had to endure on the battlefield as it tries to grind out territory in the east (of Ukraine), this is coming at a cost to the sustainment of its own weapons. & I'll just give you one example before I leave,
Sullivan: which is an example that I think is pretty newsworthy & noteworthy. & that is that our information indicates that the Iranian government is preparing to provide Russia with up to several 100 UAVs, including weapons capable UAVs, on an expedited expedited timeline,
Sullivan: Our information further indicates that Iran is preparing to train Russian forces to use these UAVs. With initial training sessions slated to begin as soon as early July. It's unclear whether Iran has delivered any of these UAVs to Russia already.
Sullivan: But this is just one example of how Russia is looking to countries like Iran for capabilities.
Sullivan on why Biden will be meeting with Netanyahu: So it's a standard protocol for an American President to meet with leaders across the Israeli political spectrum, and the reason is simple. It's because the President, this President and previous Presidents, have wanted to
display that the relationship between the United States and Israel transcends politics, transcends parties, it doesn't matter who's in charge in Washington, or who's in charge in Israel.
Sullivan, asked abt Russians gains in Ukraine: Russia has already substantially failed to achieve its strategic objectives in Ukraine. Its strategic objective was to take Kyiv,…to end Ukraine as a country; to eliminate Ukrainian identity...& subsume Ukraine...They've failed
at that. Kyiv stands, Kharkhiv stands. Odessa stands…the major cities of Ukraine...are in Ukrainian hands and are being ably & bravely defended by the Ukrainian military with the support of the US +NATO +others.
So when you take a step back and look at the trajectory of this conflict, what Vladimir Putin has set out to do, he has failed to do and he will continue to fail in his ability to achieve his ultimate objectives because of the bravery of the Ukrainian people..
Now it is certainly the case Russia has been able to grind out, kilometer by kilometer, inch by inch, some territory in the east. & the Ukrainians have made Russia pay a dear price for that, and the sanctions have made Russia pay a dear price for that. & we will continue to work
with Ukrainian military & government on a strategy to achieve their objective both on the battlefield and at the negotiating table. And…we will do that for as long as it takes.

J6 committee aide: Tomorrow hearing at 1pm will be the only Select Committee hearing of the week
Expect to hold another hearing next week.
The committee continues to receive new and important information on a daily basis.
Select committee aide replied indirectly on whether more hearings after next week: The Select Committee investigation is ongoing. Keep taking in more info on daily basis. Continue to uncover new facts. Premature to take anything off the table.
J6 aide: Tomorrow…we'll show how in the weeks leading up to the 6th, Donald Trump grew more desperate to summon the mob to Washington. We’ll give the American public a more complete understanding of the final phase of Pres. Trump & his supporters’ use of radical measures
🧵 Biden on MidEast trip: “Now it is Iran that is isolated until it returns to the nuclear deal my predecessor abandoned with no plan for what might replace it…My admin will continue to increase diplomatic & econ pressure until Iran is ready to return” washingtonpost.com/opinions/2022/…
“Next week, I will be the first president to visit the Middle East since 9/11 without U.S. troops engaged in a combat mission there. It’s my aim to keep it that way.”
“In Saudi Arabia, we reversed the blank-check policy we inherited. […] From the start, my aim was to reorient — but not rupture — relations with a country that’s been a strategic partner for 80 years.”
🧵 “Indeed, not only is insurrection on the table after Tues., but so is the related crime of seditious conspiracy..In this context, to commit insurrection is also to commit sedition. Prosecutors already have charged leaders of the Oath Keepers &Proud Boys w/seditious conspiracy.
“Although seditious conspiracy requires an independent finding of conspiracy, which Tuesday’s testimony did not establish, the Jan. 6 committee has promised to offer evidence of contacts between the rioters & the White House.
“If those contacts reach Trump, a charge of seditious conspiracy becomes substantially more likely.”
Analyst @Azodiac83 said the Islamic Republic of Iran has had sort of chronic problem making critical foreign policy decisions, one that does not seem to have been resolved by the consolidation of power by hardliners after the election of Raisi last year. diplomatic.substack.com/p/us-envoy-we-…
Visitors would “be hard pressed to know the country is at war. Karmanovsky was in Sri Lanka…when Russian troops stormed into Ukraine on Feb. 24… When he returned to Moscow in April, he said he was stunned to find the city had barely changed.”
“For many, the shock of the largest ground war in Europe since WWII has worn off. Acc. to…Levada…, the level of attention Russians pay to the conflict is declining by the month. While in March, 64% of respondents said” paying at least some attention, down to 56% in May.
“Those who pay close attention skew older—the age group that predominantly watches state television for their news—while young Russians are ignoring the events in Ukraine. Only 34% of 18-24-year-olds said they were following the situation.”
🧵Did not absorb it until rewatched today’s hearing, but Hutchinson testified that there were discussions she witnessed between Meadows and Scott Perry, and Meadows and Giuliani about Trump holding a second speech on Jan. 6 at the Capitol
Hutchinson: “I remember hearing a few different ideas discussed with Mark and Scott Perry. Mark and Rudy Giuliani. I don't know which conversations were elevated to the President. I don't know what he personally wanted to do when he went up to the Capitol that day. …
“…I know that there were discussions about him [Trump] having another speech outside of the Capitol before going in. I know that there was a conversation about him going into the House chamber at one point.”
