This is one of the finest films to come out of India in a long time.
* For the subject, which is the extraordinary talent and abilities of a great rocket scientist Nambi Narayanan.
* For a man who along with a great team and great leaders from Vikram Sarabhai to Satish Dhawan to Kalam, accomplished so much, so brilliantly and all on a shoe-string budget.
* For patriotism & love for the Nation, which needs no jingoistic declarations.
* To Madhavan, for making this extraordinary film and for acting in it with such extraordinary sensitivity and near-perfection.
* For making sure that ..
despite the inherent tragedy of Nambi being subjected to the most ridiculous, trumped up charges of
espionage...brutalized and tortured..and losing several decades of the most productive part of his life, fighting a legal battle to clear his name, Madhavan has not made the film maudlin.
If tears still spring to your eyes, it is because you contrast the shuffling,
slow-spoken, white-bearded man, with his younger, suaver, self-confident self and realise the treachery which rules the world....how even a tremendously strong-willed person can be brought to the brink of being broken.
* This film will have you swelling with pride, because it is one of the rare films which underlines Indian brilliance, chutzpah and daring;to aim and achieve the impossible, on ridiculously inadequate budgets, including our extraordinary Mars mission.
* The parts dealing with science, technology, from a layman's perspective have been done superbly. Nowhere does one cringe or wince, as one does in a typical Hindi film.
* There is not a minute in the two and half hour film that one's attention or involvement slackens.
It is told in a series of flashbacks, of the white-haired,
white-bearded Nambi, being interviewed by Shah Rukh Khan & an irreverent, almost contemptuous crew filming it.
As the film proceeds, the changing expressions of the young film crew, the dawning respect and the
tears springing to their eyes, mirrors your own emotions and reactions.
Ranganathan Madhavan has an extraordinary achievement on his hands. He has not only brought Nambi Narayanan to life:
* He has made the viewer proud to be an Indian.
* Given him an icon and a yardstick to measure patriotism, great vision and true achievement.
It is also a cautionary tale for all Indians, about the extent to which enemies of India, both within & outside will go to stymie our progress and development.
THIS IS A MOVIE EVERY INDIAN, ESPECIALLY THE YOUNG, SHOULD SEE.

* As a problem long acknowledged by Hindus, the subject of many reform movements and the worlds longest running, "affirmative action" program, it still continues to rear its ugly head in Hindu society.
* What should long ago have vanished in the bright light of Constitutional freedoms, free speech, anti-discrimination laws etc, persists, though it has been waning rapidly with education & debelopment

America has done horrifying thingsin the last 80 odd years, and much before that if you count what they did to the native Indians and the slaves they brought from Africa.
composed of millions of decent young men and women, doctors, nurses, teachers, scientists, researchers, filmmakers, adventurers, musicians, playrights who constantly give us another picture of America...the promised Land..the land of the free and the brave..
And, of course, it helped that you were a very rich country, which held out aspirational models for the world in every area of human endeavour.
Why is this sounding like an objective eulogy. Has America died?
He reminds me of an affectionate, loyal hound who has an unkind mistress, who keeps the door closed on his face; but will still bark angrily at strangers to keep them out!
Sanjay Jha represents, in essence, all that is wrong and confused about our civilization..
Why we lost our way and wallowed in serfdom..
Fought with one another and sold our common future at the altar of stupidity..
He and his ilk, like stubborn children, bent on drowning in deep waters, must be dragged- kicking and screaming- to safety, and the shore of a new dawn.
Sanjay Jha is to be more pitied than censured.
He is the mutt, who stands guard outside the door of the
All of Islam stands on blind faith; on what one man has said about the ONE True God, written in one book, in the 7th Century, which is supposed to be the words of God, conveyed to Muhammad and hence TRUE FOR ALL TIMES TO COME.
That is the beginning of all the troubles, because those who have such fixity of faith, have necessarily to be opposed to any other system or beliefs or even to any questioning of their faith.
Sanathana Dharma has really speaking NOTHING in common with Abrahamaic faiths.
It does not ask you to repose blind faith but offers you the experiential path to the Truth.
At its highest philosophical level, it is the Way of the Seeker, laid out in a number of scriptures;has no one Prophet or One Book true for all times.
