It is literally Adam Schiff's job to pressure the DOJ. He doesn't know what the DOJ is or isn't doing behind the scenes, so he's publicly pressuring them. That's 100% valid. It's a world of difference from the Twitter dummies who falsely claim to know the DOJ is doing "nothing."
Unfortunately, a lot of doomers on here are falsely claiming that Schiff said the DOJ is doing nothing, so they can pretend that Schiff has somehow validated their own endless "DOJ is doing nothing" tweets. But that's not what Schiff said.
When Adam Schiff speaks, you should listen and consider it. That's what I do. He's smart. But make sure you're actually listening to his words, and not the bullshit translation that the doomers on here have cooked up.

There’s a clear split today between the legal pundits who don’t live and die by their MSNBC/CNN bookings and are factually explaining why this DOJ memo is not a story, and the legal pundits who live for their MSNBC/CNN bookings and are yelling doomsday gibberish about the memo.
Days like this, when a fictional and easily disproven doomsday narrative is the lead story and therefore anything goes, you really get to see what pundits are made of. Who tries to use the fake story for career advancement? Who’s honest enough to poke factual holes in the story?
Keep in mind ghat all the retweets, critical praise, TV bookings, follower counts, and book deals are only available to those pundits who push the hyperbolic doomsday stuff. You push that crap, you get to write your own career ticket.

What makes Rachel Maddow great is how in-detail she is on everything she covers. But last night she ran a clearly unvetted, error laden, easily refuted “DOJ memo” story that amounted to fiction. If she’s this burnt out, her weekly shows are sadly going to do more harm than good.
We all misinterpret things of get things wrong, including me. It happens. What makes this Maddow story so uniquely damaging to the public discourse is that it was on live TV in front of an audience of millions, and we’ve all grown to trust her, and it’s such a crucial storyline.
I just would have hoped that she’d fixed it by now, at least online. Hopefully she’ll go on air tonight to fix it.

This false storyline has the potential to mislead our side into believing there’s no hope going forward, demotivating us from even trying to win elections.

The media has spent a year hyping the conspiracy theory that the DOJ has decided to let Trump off the hook. There is no evidence to support this, and significant evidence to refute it (grand jury testimony, Clark and Eastman seizure warrants, etc). So yes, it’s conspiracy theory.
Whenever news breaks that makes clear the DOJ is investigating Trump, the media acknowledges (but downplays) this news for 24 hours at most, and then just ignores it and reverts back to pushing its conspiracy theory that the DOJ has let Trump off the hook.
This is a conspiracy theory that plays on audience’s anger, fear, and lack of familiarity with how federal criminal probes work. And because the bulk of the media and pundit class reinforces it every day, it starts to “ring true” – even to those who have seen evidence it’s false.

1) This DOJ memo is about the *2022* election.

Even if Donald Trump were to announce tomorrow that he's launching a *2024* campaign, that would still not make him a participant in *2022* election.

This DOJ memo has literally zero to do with Donald Trump.
2) Look at the calendar. Look at today's date: July 18th, 2022. That's the deadline the DOJ is drawing for investigations and indictments into the 2022 election.

When the DOJ releases a similar memo about the *2024* election, it'll be issued like a couple years from now.
3) THIS "REPORTING" IS COMPLETE BULLSHIT. Every single person in the media and pundit class understands this. They all get that this memo applies to the 2022 election, not the 2024 election. But they're all jumping on this fake story, to get ratings and page views and retweets.

So why did the DOJ renew that memo about criminal charges in an election year? Multiple people on the 2022 ballot are under federal criminal investigation. The memo is about THEM. 2022. Trump is not on the 2022 ballot. NOTHING TO DO WITH TRUMP. Settle the fuck down.
What it does mean is that if the DOJ hasn't charged certain 2022 candidates (like Matt Gaetz) by a certain date, it'll have to wait until after November. The memo is a reminder that the DOJ isn't supposed to indict candidates at the height of an election cycle.
By the way, in that deep red district, Gaetz is getting reelected in November whether he's been indicted yet or not.

Steve Bannon was confident they'd never be able to seat a trial jury against him. It took all of one day. This guy has always been all hat and no cattle. Hopefully Bannon will be dumb enough to try tampering with the jury or witnesses so they can hit him with more charges.
Literally the only power someone like Bannon has is when he's able to use empty scary threats to trick you into hiding under your desk and cowering to him, instead of getting your butt out there and helping the Democrats win elections. Don't give him that power over you.
The mainstream media (on the left and right) is extremely complicit in helping someone like Bannon build up his reputation as a omnipotent evil wizard who always wins. Liberal news outlets are always willing to print this scary nonsense because it's good for ratings / page views.
