A game-changing moment for @trussliz.
Rishi thought he'd set a clever trap, but instead presented her with an open goal. Watch the smile, the stiffness disappear, the fluency emerge, the passion grow. That's #LizForLeader authenticity. She needs to find more of that. #ITVDebate
Appended for those (esp. Labour MPs) who say @trussliz was educated under the Conservatives, so she's trashing Thatcher/Major.
Schools were run by local education authorities, responsible for funding and achievement.
Who controlled Leeds Council 1986-1993? #ITVLeadershipDebate
It was to liberate schools from local authorities who were failing generations of children that Thatcher/Baker introduced Grant Maintained schools.
Labour came to agree, and adopted this model to establish City Academies.
The Tory/LibDem Coalition expanded academisation further.
Apparently, this is proof that @trussliz is lying about her school. It isn't.
i) Pupils may have very different experiences at the same school
ii) EAL & SEND are as relevant here as the Chess Club
iii) Roundhay had both excellent teachers and poor teachers
@Cambridge_Uni What was unlawful about the opinions expressed by Dr @jordanbpeterson? theguardian.com/education/2019… Certainly, you may find his views controversial, but you rescinded his visiting fellowship when students objected. Where was your robust defence of his academic right to express a view?
@Cambridge_Uni@jordanbpeterson And just because an opinion is lawful to express doesn't make it acceptable for an employee of an academic institution. If this sectarian prejudice were tweeted by a male lecturer about left-wing people, and students demanded his dismissal, what would your response be?
@Cambridge_Uni@jordanbpeterson And what action do you take when your academics hurl abuse and personal attacks at Oxford academics to whose (lawful) views they object? She called Prof @NigelBiggar a 'fascist', too. Did you tweet about the importance of civility in the academy?
