When asked at deputy leader hustings tonight to name a union figure who inspired me, I chose Emmeline Pankhurst.
I said any of us who truly believed in workers rights to collective action should have been horrified at scenes of intimidation against women at Manchester statue.
I'd expect Greens in public position to call out such behaviour not remain quiet.
If you think party failing to speak truth & justice on women's rights you can elect a deputy to redress that lack - in keeping with our deep green values for freedom of protest & equality for all.
In 1903 Pankhurst founded the Women's Social and Political Union (WSPU), an all-women suffrage advocacy organisation dedicated to

"[CEO, Green] recalls how, as a boy, Jack was made to feel shame about his preference for ‘girly’ toys & clothes by his father, at one point asking his grandmother ‘can you buy me Barbie Rapunzel, but hide it because if mummy and daddy find it they’re going to take it away’."
So why exactly was this young boy "made to feel shame" for wanting these toys? Surely these parents are guilty of projecting their own stereotypical prejudices about wrong toy syndrome?
Decent summary by outgoing Chair of report commissioned to capture EDI challenges of GPEW.
Recognition conflict around sex & gender has resulted in culture at odds with our values. Members should be asking GPEx candidates how they propose to engage.
However analysis arguably upside down with respect to cause & effect.
Conflict around sex/gender largely arisen *because* a culture of authoritarian intolerance & groupthink cancel culture has been allowed to predominate.
Report correctly identifies key ingredient for positive change as "forums for discussion".
That recommendation needs to be amplified. Members have been driven out by targetted abuse & harassment for stating gender critical protected beliefs, facilitated by weaponised complaints.
You know what's really sad is having people on here yesterday, who should know better, telling me I should have done more during local elections without even knowing what I did do.
We need to get to a place where we don't try to guilt trip our activists for "not doing enough".
That's profoundly demotivating. Every hour a member dedicates is precious. I spent time in more than one local party, even if I didn't Tweet about it, & was thanked for it by local officers. That's Green way.
I was thanked, for eg. for taking an afternoon out to collect signatures for non-target candidates "one of few to do so" so we could get close to a full slate in a Borough which ended up delivering our first councillor & in an area I had previously stood as GE candidate.

Judge keen not to adjudicate on transgender debate as such but opens with a lazy definition:
"A person may identify their gender as different to their apparent biological sex assigned at birth. Thus a person born of male sex may identify as a woman and vice versa." (§ 15)
What is only apparent here? Their biological sex? Gender being conflated with sex?
"Proposals [@guardian] endorse would make it harder for therapists to explore what may lie behind gender distress. Common underlying causes incl. stirrings of same-sex attraction, undiagnosed autistic-spectrum disorder, trauma from abuse &..living in sexist, porn-saturated world.
"Result is that, in these places [where ban], gender-distressed children are more likely to be fast-tracked to puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, surgery – and a lifetime of medical problems, including sexual dysfunction and sterility. This is the true “conversion therapy”."
Indomitable @joannaccherry: "Women are particularly vulnerable in war because of their sex. This is because women are particularly vulnerable to sexual violence at the hands of men. That violence is sex-based and directed at women because of our biology. Sex matters." #IWD2022
"What you cannot define you cannot protect, and what you cannot name cannot be properly discussed and debated. That is why the stealthy erasure of sex-based language from our statute book and public and private policy making should be resisted."
"It is also why politicians and policy makers should be precise in their language, and should not conflate sex and gender."
