If you’ve ever spent a night in the woods, especially in a waning moon, you know: without a fire it’s scary. Every bush is a bear. Every scraggly tree is the Big Bad Wolf from your Three Little Pigs Golden Book.
Here are 3 fire kits that fit in the watch pocket of your trousers
Kit 1 “It’s Never Failed” Kit
Craft bag:
•mini Bic (never needed a zip tie “safety”)
•book of damp resistant MRE matches
•tiny craft bag w/ enough Vaseline impregnated cotton to pinch off a peanut size, light it & build minimum 3-4 fires.
Kit 2 “The Sloppy Guy Who Knows What He’s Doing” Kit:
•old R/x bottle (13 year old label)
•2 feet of 1” gaff tape (fire extender)
•3 types of matches: green tip (regular conditions) red tip dipped in wax (fell in a river) UCO Storm (Katrina camping)
•Vaseline cotton tinder
Kit 3 “One Stop Shop on the Walmart Camping Aisle” Kit:
•Blaze orange H20 match safe
•2 types of matches: Coughlan’s waterproof & UCO Storm
•fat wood fire extender
•Vaseline impregnated tinder rolled in 2x layer of cling wrap
NOTE: a pea size of tinder is plenty for a fire
The lesson in this impromptu thread is the un-fancy kit in your pocket is 1000x more valuable than a “comprehensive fire kit” that contains $200 of gear & is so fail-safe a snowman could get a fire going with it. Fire piston? Flint & steel? Char cloth? All cool but unnecessary
There is no truer maxim than “2 is 1, 1 is none”
(Like breaking the can opener & feeding a family of 5 w/ the P-38 you’ve had since Operation Desert Shield 😬)
2 of my fire kits fit in a watch pocket
Or build a 2.5lb Maxpedition brick, make a youtube video & leave it in the car
Love you guys. Thanks for sharing these little how-to’s
It takes a few minutes to set up the pics etc, so sharing is greatly appreciated as it’s pretty much the only thing keeping my account alive here at 11:59 hour of twitter
Have a great day
END THREAD.

I included: eye popping new world order fiction, SHTF references, dystopian survival fiction & political/cultural explanations as to how we landed on the precipice of total collapse
All of these books will↗️your capabilities & none are boring
Kinda dry & expensive in hard copy editions BUT FREE sun digital pdf
Probably the most widely agreed on DIY survival manual from US Navy SEALs to British SAS to French Foreign Legion.
Sold in “cigarette pack” compact editions. This plus a Bible, fishing knots reference, Police manual & Riggers/Engineers reference are in my INCH bag 24/7/365
When the international banking cartel/DC establishment & corporate media decide they’re done with someone they have the power to shred them. Cancel them. Imprison them. Ruin their lives. ⬇️
Even extremely popular Hollywood royalty (who headed SAG as a Democrat) and a billionaire glitterati playboy who was also a photo op of left & right equally.
President Reagan.
President Trump.
And anyone and everyone in between.⬇️
It amazes me how Team Blue & Team Red fall for it decade after decade. They never question inflation. They never question usury banking. They never question the obvious alliances between poison foods & poison drugs. Drugs designed to ease the ailments caused by the poison food.⬇️
⭐️these are not recommendations for healthy eating nor longterm diet. They mimics of US military MRE components available outside surplus market⭐️These “foods” have long shelf life:
5 reasons why regardless of price there is no such thing as an outstanding store bought survival kit or bug out bag:
1. Quality survival gear is produced in batches. There aren’t enough units manufactured for kit builders to purchase at wholesale or large group breaks ⬇️
2. Retail purchasers all approach their purchase with the same childish mentality. If the cumulative total of the contents are in excess of retail price points or at break-even they turn on youtube, pick through the kit and declare it poor value “cuz I could build this cheaper”⬇️
3. If the builder/seller of quality survival kits offers refunds the purchasers (see 2 above) invariably “forget” to include the Swiss Army knife, MSR water filter or Leatherman upon returning w/ demand for refund of a great, non-defective kit⬇️
They last longer than groceries. >dehydrated “emergency food”
1. field strip MRE’s(cut volume) 2. carry in smaller rucks/haversacks 3. add a jar of peanut butter, instant coffee & oatmeal, Cliff & candy bars to each load
I build MRE’s in bags that can be grabbed in addition to a BOB or field pack
Each ruck/bag feeds 1 person for 10 days. They also contain:
-knife
-bandanas
-steel cup/bottle
-mini survival kit
-3mil liners
-water purification
-TP
-candy & jerky
MRE’s are buggin out/ field food
As MRE’s skyrocket in price (5 years ago a late date case was $90) do our be fooled by the military marketing
Half of the 24 menu options are one shade above gross & a few are actually quite edible. Their main benefit is you don’t have to boil water or create a big footprint
The most common mistakes I’ve personally seen in peoples preps:
-mistaking 6 weeks of food for 6 months
-nowhere near enough stored water
-nothing stronger than Advil for pain
-no trauma kit (coagulate, tourniquets, chest seals, IBD’s)
-no antibiotics ⬇️
