My daily update. It is very short today because I have stuff to do tonight. #ukrdailyupdate
Here is a link to the map, I encourage you to use it. The numbers have the text of this update. google.com/maps/d/u/0/edi…
Kharkiv area: Russian forces are very interested in capturing Udy, and today they sent a recon team towards the town, which was destroyed (1). I think Russia just wants to push Ukrainian forces further away from the border.
South of Kharkiv: Russian forces tried to attack Husarivka using air and artillery support (2), but the attack was repelled by Ukrainian artillery fire. I thought Ukraine held Bairak, but this attack towards Husarivka shows otherwise. Unless the attack came from Nova Husarivka.
The Slovyansk area:
Russia tried to perform reconnaissance near Dmytrivka (3), but they were repulsed.
Russia did their daily attack into Krasnopillya (4), but they were repelled.
The Siversk area: There is a lot of gray area here that I don't know what to make of. It seems Russia is pushing attacks through certain vectors, but only temporarily. And Ukraine likely doing the same in the opposite direction.
Russia attempted their daily attacks into Hryhorivka (5), Ivano-Darivka (6), through the outskirts of Spirne (7), into Berestove (8), and into Bilohorivka (9). All four attack vectors failed.
The Bakhmut area: One of the more interesting, albeit ultimately irrelevant developments of the day: The Wagner group attacked north towards Pokrovske from Klynove (10). They are establishing themselves on the southern outskirts of Pokrovske.
As you can see on the map, the movement doesn't really change much. They effectively moved 1-2km through gray area to get slightly closer to Pokrovske. They haven't even attempted attacking the actual defenses yet.
DPR forces tried their daily attacks into Vershyna (11), Vuhlehirska power plant (12), and Semyhirya (13). All attacks were repelled.
Russians are moving 1000 men plus all of their equipment from Demyanivka, Starodubivka, and Zakharivka towards Zaporizhzhia (14).
The Kherson area: A Russian jet, probably a Su-35 air superiority fighter, was shot down near Nova Kahkovka today (15). Ukraine claims to have shot it down, but it could have been friendly fire. (I don't know exactly where the jet was shot down, the mark is a placeholder)
Ukraine shot the Antonovskiy Bridge with HIMARS today, slightly damaging it (16). The damage isn't enough to destroy the bridge, but Ukraine could potentially continue to fire rockets at the bridge to harass workers as they attempt to repair it.
One last note, Hungary has suddenly announced that they will allow weapons and supplies to travel through their country into Ukraine. Up until now they have forced goods to travel around their country, which was especially awkward for airplanes.
I hope I didn't forget an image or something this time like I do every other day.
The Kharkiv area: Russia shelled Kharkiv, killing a 13 year old boy, wounding his 15 year old sister, and killing a couple in their 60s who were waiting for public transport.
Russia tried to advance through Pytomnyk, which is a bit of a sprawling town, but they were repelled (1)
The Slovyansk area: Russia made their normal daily attacks into Krasnopillya (2), Dolyna (3), and Bohorodychne (4), and all were repelled.
Ukraine’s plan to attack Kherson is pretty obvious. There are two major bridges to the city (white), and two smaller, minor bridges (red). Ukraine aims to threaten and/or destroy the two white bridges. Today they shelled one of them.
If one bridge is gone, when the second gets threatened Russia risks having all of their forces in the city totally cut off. You can cross those red bridges, but they are vulnerable to Ukrainian attack. ESPECIALLY if Ukraine captures Snihurivka.
Reading the tea leaves, I think Ukraine will launch an attack up north first (first image). Russia will try to stop this advance and build a defensive line that is out of howitzer range of the Kakhovka HPP.
The Kharkiv area: Today Ukraine announced a successful operation in Dementiivka where they destroyed a platoon of Russian marine special forces (1). It is unclear who controls the town, or when this attack happened. For more info:
The Barvinkove/Slovyansk area: Ukraine repelled an attack towards Dmytrivka (2), but it is unclear which angle the attack came from. It could have from from the north, as depicted, or possibly from the east.
In Dementiivka Ukraine performed a special operation that killed 36 russian soldiers, wounded dozens more, they captured the leader (who was a Ukrainian traitor), and a bunch of equipment including some nice expensive optics.
The Kharkiv area (I'm including the version of the map nobody likes because I think it is easier to understand): Putin has ordered the Russian army to capture all of Kharkiv Oblast. Russia also fired a lot of missiles into Kharkiv, targeting both industrial and residential areas.
There is talk that Russia captured Dementiivka (1), but the geolocated videos I have seen are more or less in territory I knew Russia already controlled. Nevertheless, I have changed the town to gray area.
Not very much is happening so I am just showing the changes to my map. To see the map, here is the link: google.com/maps/d/u/0/edi…
First, the Dibrovne/Kurulka area: There were rumors that Russia attacked and perhaps captured Kurulka recently, but that claim went contrary to all evidence and information I have available to me so I have decided to reverse that map change and make Dibrovne a gray area.
The Vuhlehirska power plant area: I updated Russian control to be closer to plant (1,2). I know Russia controls intersection of E40 highway (3) but I don't know of any Russian gained territory to the west from there. I updated the Ukrainian line of control in Novoluhanske (4).
