These two who were left alone becoming family. I love Final Fantasy VII's theme of "found family" and untraditional family structures. From Marlene and Barret (and Tifa), to Aeris and Elmyra, it's just lovely.
Wait a... Cloud and Tifa, get OUT of my flashback scene! I'm trying to do an emotional photoshoot here!
Ahem.. sorry about that..
Anyway things go well between them, until..
BARRET are you TRYING TO HIDE? I see you, get OUT of this flashback scene!!
ahem.. until TSENG shows up and Elmyra confirms what she was already suspecting - that Aeris is no ordinary child. But I love how Elmyra still looks ready to do anything to protect #Aerith (and frankly, I suspect she helped convince Tseng to let her raise #Aerith secretly).
I've always had that theory - maybe Elmyra appealed to Tseng's humanity and convinced him to pretend he never found Aerith for a few years. Maybe she had some clout due to her mafia ties (ToTP). But she definitely was the reason Tseng didn't take #Aerith by force that day.
Final thought - it is absolutely tragic that Elmyra, who lost her husband and found #Aerith, then loses Aeris, too, in the OG. In the OG I always wondered if maybe she would adopt Marlene alongside Barret and still have family, but the Compilation left her alone. 💔 Devastating..

#Clerith is magical. Honestly. I still can't believe the chapter 14 resolution scene exists.
Putting #Aerith in her OG outfit felt right, because of the suggestion that this version of Aeris is "closer to the future" - or maybe the past? It's clear that this Aeris is in love with Cloud, and her words carry more weight than even he knows. Yet she pushes him away. #Clerith
