Speaking of Marvel Animation: I was lucky enough to attend the 30th anniversary panel for X-Men: The Animated Series! Fun hearing Larry Houston talk about what went into that series - and it was a packed room:

THEY’RE STARTING OFF WITH JEFFREY WRIGHT AS THE WATCHER NARRATING!

Moderating is Paul F. Thompkins, who y’all might know as Mr. Peanutbutter from Bojack Horseman.

Brad Winderbaum says What If..? was born out of talks with Kevin Feige, and as Season 1 progressed they wanted to do more.

Winderbaum also said cartoons got him into reading comics. A man after my own heart.

Sizzle reel is playing dedicated to Ryan Meinerding and his 15 years at Marvel Studios. And now he’s on stage!

Now coming on stage are Bryan Andrews and AC Bradley, Jeff Trammell, and Beau DeMayo!

And Kristen Lepore, who’s doing #IAmGroot. She says that the series take place during Groot’s childhood and she had inspiration from her three year old.

Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel are returning to voice Rocket Raccoon and Groot!

Trailer for #IAmGroot features Groot getting into all kinds of misadventures.

We got to see the first episode of #IAmGroot! And there’ll be more on the way.

Next up: #SpiderManFreshmanYear. Trammell calls it a dream project, says it takes place prior to CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR.

Supporting cast includes… AMADEUS CHO AND NICO MINORU! AND HARRY OSBORN?!?

Villains include Scorpion, Chameleon, Speed Demon, Rhino, and…Doctor Otto Octavious.

Doctor Strange and Daredevil will show up! And Charlie Cox is voicing the Man Without Fear!!

OH SNAP NORMAN OSBORN IS SHOWING UP!!!

Trammell says that Norman and Peter will have an interesting relationship through Freshman Year.

Peter will wear different suits throughout the series, including his Identity Crisis suits (Hornet, Dusk and Prodigy).

Freshman Year drops 2024. And work is progressing on Spider-Man: SOPHOMORE Year. ;)

Featuring Iron Man stranded on Sakaar, Captain Carter and Steve Rogers in Winter Soldier armor, the Mandarin vs Odin, and 1602!!!!!

Production on Season 3 of What If is in progress!

Next: MARVEL ZOMBIES, which spins out of episode 5 of What If…? Zeb Wells is head writer.

New zombies include Abomination, Ghost and Captain Marvel.

Surviving heroes; Kate Bishop, Yelena Belova, Kamala Khan, Jimmy Woo, and Shang-Chi!

Other elements include post apocalyptic Black Widows, a Skrull biker gang, and a half-zombified Ikaris.

Finally: X-MEN 97! Everyone talked about how big an influence the original series had on them. And this sizzle reel made me cry.

Eric and Julia Lewald, who worked on the original series, are in the audience and received a standing ovation!

DeMayo correctly says that the X-Men are a giant soap opera and referenced the infamous Wolverine meme!

The entire team is returning! And Storm is rocking her classic mohawk.

Other mutants include Forge, Cable, Nightcrawler, Morph, Forge, and SUNSPOT!

Magneto is OFFICIALLY the new leader of the X-Men. “Who inherits the dream?” DeMayo asked. Also returning are Sentinels and the Hellfire Club, as well as Callisto and Sinister.

Sadly no trailer as episodes are being worked on but we got to see some animatics of X-Men vs Sentinels. ROGUE PULLED OUT A GOTTDAMN SIDEBUSTER.

They let us watch the first episode of What If Season 2 to close out the panel!
