My name is Muhammad lawal; a 300level student, a sickle cell disease patient who has had to put his academics on halt due to health reasons for 2 years.

If anyone could take the time and read this post and RT'ing it would definitely mean the world to me.

I have had a recent life change that has been extremely tough on me and my family. I have had health issues since 2020 of the Asuu 2 weeks warning strike of (covid 19 lockdown).

"Things have went downhill quickly and it has never been the same ever since"

By march 2020, i was ill, where i have been in the hospital constantly and i was diagnosed with bilateral total hip replacement and bilateral total knee replacement. December 2020, Where i was counselled for surgery to have a better mobility.

I underwent major multiple surgeries and treatment in the span of six months in a government orthopaedic reference hospital (dala) kano. Which was successful. As a result, i had pain free hips, the knees became lesser with pains and i could walk with lesser pains.

However, contractures are complicated, and impairing my mobility, i still had some pains on my knees, and in Nov, an examination took out by my doctor confirmed i needed an intensive rehabilitation, i was readmitted for traction, manipulation under anaesthesis was done. I was...

put on a plan for dynacast for six weeks, which was carried out. Initially, it was manageable with medication and physiotherapy; however, by march of 2022, the contractures rapidly developed to the point where it became unbearable, despite intensive physio and strong medication.

I kept on trying consistently for the contractures not to develope, we scheduled for both home rehabilitation and going to clinic for a better result no solutions were found and it became finding a stream in the desert.

Worryingly, the contractures is advanced, and becoming life threatening, due to underlying cause of neurological diagnosis. we know this all sounds unbearable- and it is. We've desperately wish something was done sooner.

But the truth is - as a family this is the most hopeful we've been for years. Help me pay my life forward!

We've been singing at shadows of recovery but it's not yet God's time.

I really trust and appreciated my doctors work as his work was very commendable, surgeries perfectly done well, but he has tried his best possible alternatives and I'm humbled by his outpouring care all through but still facing the contracture despite constant physio.

As it is, we don't want to have lapses anymore. Therefore, Treatment is only considered for the most serious and advanced where there are no other options left. The situation is really becoming a push to shove as I'm unable to have a good..

range of motion, always in constant pain, i could barely leave my house to the neighbourhood, I'm always bed-bound, and I'm no longer physically active. And when crisis should strike me down it's very unbearable, i go two days non stop not sleeping,as i have a low pain threshold.

I'm appealing for your assistance due to the financial circumstances we're going through, to put up my story out there, in hopes that i could get a medical sponsor and contributions to this great cause.

Ofcourse, I'm taking this all in stride with a great attitude and smile as i know it's just a moment, and a test from God.
