I’m glad to announce that this year, our region is receiving nearly half a billion dollars toward our regional priorities from the State! The @CityofSanDiego is receiving $68.5 million for 19 projects that will improve quality of life in our communities. bit.ly/3BlU9yo
This funding will touch all corners of our city – all nine Council districts have projects that will receive funding. These dollars are a testament to the extremely high quality of representation our Senators and Assemblymembers are providing in Sacramento. #ForAllofUs
The biggest of all the City projects funded is construction of a new Oak Park Library. Thanks to our delegation, the state is providing $20 million for this project! A special thanks to @asmakilahweber, @CD4Monica, and Friends of the Oak Park Library for their advocacy.
In recognition of her leadership in bringing dollars home to build the new Oak Park Library, I have forwarded my desire to the @SDPublicLibrary Department and the Library Commission to name the community room in the new library the Toni G. Atkins Community Room!

I’m proud and excited to name Eric K. Dargan as the City of San Diego’s next Chief Operating Officer, where his skills and experience will be put to great use as we continue the work to make our city function better at every level – for all of us. bit.ly/3BwTnhU
Eric is a true public servant who is ready to tackle our big challenges, from building more housing and addressing homelessness to fixing our city’s infrastructure. His background includes 20 years at the City of Houston, most recently as its COO of the Public Works Department.
Pending City Council confirmation, Eric will take the reins from Jay Goldstone, to whom I’m incredibly grateful for serving in an interim capacity as we got my administration up and running.
As much as the City's vaccine mandate is about protecting City workers and the public, it is also about ensuring the continued operation of City services. #COVID19 has caused operational impacts that every resident has experienced. A thread 🧵👇🏽
Across all departments, nearly 1,300 City employees have been infected with #COVID19.
Since July 2020, we experienced more than 1,100 delayed routes in trash collection, which impacted over 1.3 million City residents, some on multiple occasions. This means nearly every resident in the City has experienced delays in trash collection due to #COVID19.
