Menjunjung kasih KDYMM Seri Paduka Baginda Yang di-Pertuan Agong dan KDYMM Seri Paduka Baginda Raja Permaisuri Agong berkenan berangkat ke Istiadat Perbarisan Sambutan #HariPahlawan Tahun 2022 di Dataran Pahlawan Negara.
Perbarisan Hari Pahlawan hari ini melibatkan 58 pegawai & 867 anggota2 ATM & PDRM serta 152 veteran daripada Persatuan Veteran ATM, Kontinjen Pesara Polis & Bekas Polis Malaysia.

Selain daripada barisan kepimpinan negara, sambutan hari ini turut dihadiri ketua2 perwakilan asing.
Sambutan Hari Pahlawan pada setiap 31 Julai bertujuan memperingati jasa perajurit dalam mempertahankan keamanan dan kedaulatan tanah air.

ACROSS SPACES - END GAME FOR THE MYANMAR CONFLICT

On 26th July, I had a fruitful discussion with the UN Secretary General's Special Envoy on Myanmar, Dr Noeleen Heyzer.

We discussed various issues: the ASEAN 5-Point Consensus (5PC), a framework for Myanmar with an end game, humanitarian aid, and education for refugees.
Until today, there has been no real progress on the 5PC. The violence continues, and in fact gotten worse. There is no inclusive or fair consultation between all key stakeholders in the ASEAN-junta dialogue. The junta monopolizes and politicizes humanitarian aid.

Tonight's event, organised by Forces of Renewal for South East Asia @officialFORSEA and attended by activists, scholars, leaders, musicians, and Myanmar dissidents honored Myanmar’s martyred activists, in solidarity with the spirit of Resistance.
This tribute is for a special reason, for a special people, for a special cause, and a special struggle, in solidarity with the people of Myanmar, and it renews our commitment and support for Myanmar’s struggle for peace and democracy.
There has been no real progress with the ASEAN Five-Point Consensus. Since the coup, the violence has continued, with thousands killed, thousands more internally displaced, people running away as refugees, and an increasing number of political prisoners.

ACROSS SPACES: PALESTINIAN STUDIES AT UNIVERSITY OF MALAYA

On the 14th of July, I had the honour to launch the Hashim Sani Centre for Palestinian Studies, University of Malaya @unimalaya.

It was established on the initiative of its founder-funder, Puan Sri Norma Hashim, daughter of the former Chief Justice of Malaya, the late Tan Sri Hashim Yeop Sani.
According to its Director, Prof Dr Nazari Ismail, the centre aims to widen the knowledge of Palestinian Studies to achieve freedom, justice, and equality for the Palestinians. It aspires to be a leading academic centre in this field at the regional and international levels.

Delivered the keynote address at the 7th International Conference on International Relations and Development, jointly organized by Chiang Mai University, Chulalongkorn University, Thammasat University, Mahidol University, & Mae Fah Luang University.

The world today is faced with three main challenges, namely climate change, the advent of technology, and an unfair/unjust international architecture and system.
On climate change, global warming is possibly the most treatable issue because ways to reduce the rate of warming, mitigate its effects and adapt to its consequences are known & doable. Stakeholders must collectively work together, to share the costs & burdens to overcome it.

ACROSS SPACES: THE NATION’S SURVIVAL ON THE WORLD STAGE

Not all countries that have become independent survived with peace and prosperity on the world stage. The history of various countries shows a variety of experiences.

Some are independent with their size reduced or divided into more than one country. Some were at enmity with their neighbors to a point where border wars break out. Some were attacked by outside forces. Some whose government was overthrown by outside influence.
Some have suffered civil wars, genocides, ethnic cleansing, coups, etc - which often involve outside influences.

Some countries achieved independence in a situation where there was lack of indigenous leaders who were able to manage nation’s independence in the best possible way.
