This is grotesque.

Celadon Books promises an 880-page final report from the House January 6 Committee by September 6, 2022, when there may be no report in September, any such report would be an interim one, and we’ve no idea when a final report will come. amazon.com/gp/aw/d/125087…
PS/ When I say major media cares more about money than America, this is what I’m referring to. Thompson already said any fall report would be a brief *interim* report—and if Democrats keep the House there may not be a final report until 2023/2024—yet this book is raking in money.
PS2/ A product like this creates a sense among the public and in media that the January 6 Committee will have done something *wrong* if it doesn’t issue its final report by early September. It’s an attempt to rush the most important investigation in U.S. history to make a buck.
PS3/ While I’d have to do more research to come to a final conclusion, I question the legality of marketing a book as a final report due on a date certain when the chair of the committee at issue has *explicitly* said at *best* a brief *interim* report *might* appear that month.
PS4/ Which brings me to the other issue with a disgusting cash-grab like this: having raked in hundreds of thousands or even millions of dollars in an at best misleading ad campaign, Celadon Books almost *has* to misrepresent this book as a final report even if it knows it isn’t.
PS5/ What legal liability should Amazon bear for listing a book that misrepresents what it is and the certainty of its release? Imagine legions of Americans reading a brief interim report and being told it’s a final report so Amazon and Celadon can make money off an insurrection.
PS6/ Keep in mind why Celadon is doing this: to profit off releasing the book before a national election. So it’s going to misinform Americans about the “final” findings of the most important congressional committee in U.S. history right before a national election—to make a buck.
PS7/ Does anyone at Celadon stop and say, “Well, we *could* get away with this, but we shouldn’t even *try* to because the stakes for our democracy are far too high”? No! In fact, it does the opposite: it holds up this book as evidence it cares about America. That makes me livid.
PS8/ If you buy this book, it’s entirely possible that what you’ll *actually* get is *not* an 880-page final report but a 100-page *interim* report with enough filler from people who know very little about January 6 for Celadon to *pray* that folks don’t ask for their money back.
PS9/ Of course, if the profiteering we saw around the Mueller Report is any indication, what Celadon *may* do instead is simply postpone the book indefinitely—*after* it has racked up preorders by pretending it had no advance warning a final report might not come until next year.
PS10/ If the U.S. publishing industry were in a healthy state—and not a dilapidated dog park in which editors and publishers scrabble around like starving mongrels looking for a buck—we wouldn’t see shamelessness like this. But publishing, like America, is in a state of sickness.
NOTE/ And I hope no one is naive enough to think there isn’t major money in a grotesque ploy like this. The Mueller Report summaries, which began appearing on Amazon a year before the report arrived—all with false publication dates and page-counts—were bestsellers. And now this:

Cuomo was willing to lay low for all of a few months—now he’s back with a podcast and interviews in which he defends Trump and demands America move on from January 6. We’ve seen his tack-to-the-right schtick from amoral men without political values before. thedailybeast.com/bill-mahers-em…
(PS) To be clear, Chris Cuomo’s plan will work just fine. There’s nothing the far right likes more than a self-described liberal who spends all his time skewering supposed liberal orthodoxy as a way of getting revenge for his own past bad behavior (and the consequences thereof).
(PS2) When the alternative is being out of the public eye altogether, guys like Cuomo or Maher will make a financial killing pretending to be liberals but honestly sounding like they’ve no idea whatsoever how most Democrats think or what most Democrats are saying. It’s so tiring.

(1 of 2) I’m perpetually mystified by fellow lawyers agreeing to represent a man like Donald Trump, so I tend to go to Google when a new Trump lawyer pops up. I put the words “Lindsey Halligan Florida” in Google and—after her Facebook page—these are the first images that came up.
(2 of 2) I don’t care what anyone does in their downtime—my point is that Halligan has been out of law school for *10 years*, her Lawyer.com profile pic is blank, and *these* are the second/third images that come up when a lawyer with 10 years’ experience is Googled?
(PS) We’re talking about the last President of the United States—who’s about to again run for President of the United States—suing one of the largest media entities in the world for accurately reporting on his role in an ongoing insurrection. And this is the lawyer Trump retains?

(📢) According to the fully sourced evidence in NYT bestseller Proof of Conspiracy (Macmillan 2019), the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia illegally meddled in the 2016 election with the knowledge of the Trumps. *That’s* how the MBS-Jared Kushner relationship began. amazon.com/Proof-Conspira…
1/ I’m amazed at how many media outlets are credulously reporting Kushner’s claim that his relationship with MBS began in 2017. The NYT previously revealed an August 2016 meeting at Trump Tower in which the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia offered the Trumps illegal election assistance.
2/ The NYT reported that the Trumps accepted the offer of illegal election assistance from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in August 2016. Proof of Conspiracy supplied the fully sourced evidence of how that illegal election assistance was supplied and how and by whom it was paid for.

In August, Jared Kushner will drop a book of revisionist history. Media—having learned nothing from the 2016 and 2020 elections—will book him everywhere, make his book a bestseller, and thus reward him for the same sort of bad behavior it’ll voraciously cover in Trump’s 2024 run.
In other words, if you’re wondering whether U.S. media has looked deep inside its own broken soul after the role it played in the demise of our democracy between 2016 and the present day so that it can do things differently in the 2024 election cycle, the answer is a definite no.
Kushner aided and abetted the cover-up of a murder. And he did much worse than that, too. This thread isn’t about my book, so I’m not going to go there, but I want folks to understand that I say what I am saying because I researched Kushner for a very long time. He has done evil.

In October 2020, in a PROOF podcast, I drew listeners’ attention to a recent presser in North Carolina in which Donald Trump *urged voters to commit voter fraud* to discredit mail-in ballots.

I said a fan of his would do as he’d commanded.

BREAKING NEWS: cnn.com/2022/07/29/pol…
I also said—in the same podcast—that Trump had planned his remarks so he’d win either way: if he sparked mass voter fraud, he’d get fraudulent votes; if his acolytes were caught committing crimes, he’d call it proof that mail-in balloting is ripe for fraud. It’s pseudo-Orwellian.
Moreover, if Trump’s mass solicitation of felonies was never caught, he’d never mention it again—as he’d have the fraudulent votes his voters cast—whereas if his people were caught, he’d call himself a *hero* for predicting *and* calling out voter fraud *from whatever source*.

Orban. Torba. Ziegler. The GOP has become a party of overt anti-semitism—and if you think you can vote for the GOP without demonstrably advancing Christofascism in the United States, think again. It’s a patriotic duty to defend America against this threat.
