The month of August has brought with it a busy schedule for the OTT space. Last month, we saw many new exciting titles being released both in theaters as well as on OTT platforms. Luckily, this time around, we have got many new additions to the platforms.

Author Neil Gaiman’s comic book series will finally make its way to screen this month with Netflix’s #TheSandman. It will exclusively debut on Netflix on Friday (August 5). Reportedly, Season 2 is already in the making!
Malayalam action drama film #Kaduva starring actor #PrithvirajSukumaran will have its OTT premiere on Amazon Prime Video on Thursday (August 4). Directed by Shaji Kailas, the film garnered positive reviews from audiences and critics after its theatrical release on July 7.
One of the most highly-anticipated films of the year, #Darlings is set to have a direct-to-OTT release this month as well. Starring Alia Bhatt, Shefali Shah, Roshan Mathew, and Vijay Varma, the dark comedy thriller is scheduled to premiere on Netflix on Friday (August 5).
Marvel’s next exciting project #SheHulkAttorneyAtLaw will star actor Tatiana Maslany as the buff green superhero. Helmed by Kat Coiro and Anu Valia, ‘She-Hulk: Attorney at Law’ will stream on Disney+ Hotstar starting August 17.
‘Rashtra Kavach Om,' starring actors Aditya Roy Kapur, Sanjana Sanghi, Jackie Shroff, Prakash Raj, and Ashutosh Rana, saw its theatrical release on July 1. The movie will land on the ZEE5 platform on August 11.
Tamil anthology series ‘Victim: Who is next?’ Is set for its OTT premiere on SonyLIV on Friday (August 5). It includes segments directed by filmmakers Chimbudevan, Rajesh M, PA Ranjith, and Venkat Prabhu.

Jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi was reportedly involved in issuing the death threat to Khan and his father Salim Khan last month. Cops also suspect the involvement of Bishnoi’s gang in Punjabi singer-politician Sidhu Moosewala’s assassination in May.
Khan had applied for the gun license and also met with Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar for the same on July 22. A representative of the actor collected the license, which was handed over after completing the due procedures.

The Earth set a new record for the shortest day on July 29 by completing a full rotation on its axis in 1.59 milliseconds less than the standard 24 hours. The speed of the rotation is increasing recently but the reasons are currently unknown.

It might seem that the Earth is becoming faster but over longer time periods it is actually slowing down. The planet is taking a few milliseconds more every century to complete one rotation.
The introduction of negative leap seconds seems unnecessary and “it is a risky practice that does more harm than good,” as per tech giants like Meta.

Recently, a bizarre incident came to light in the United Kingdom where a housing group continued taking rent from a tenant, who died in her flat and lay undetected for two and a half years! Here are more details.

The woman, identified as Sheila Seleoane by her dental records, was found lying on the floor of her London flat in a severely decomposed state in February this year. Seleoane, a former medical secretary, was unmarried & her estranged family resides in South Africa.
According to the neighbors, she was last seen in August 2019 and her death apparently took place around that time. Her neighbors said that they had reported to Peabody Housing Group after detecting a foul smell coming from her flat in October 2019.

A) HRA received.
B) 50% of the salary if the house is rented in Kolkata/Delhi/Mumbai/Chennai (40% for non-metros).
C) Rent paid minus 10% of basic salary.
Under Section 80CCC, taxpayers can claim deductions worth Rs. 1.5 lakh for buying pension products. Taxpayers can also claim additional benefits of Rs. 50,000 under Section 80CCD by contributing to the National Pension Scheme (NPS).

The WHO said the rapidly spreading cases of monkeypox were "a matter of concern." WHO officials in South-East Asia appealed to nations to strengthen surveillance and enhance public health measures as the global cases reportedly rose to 17,000.
India has reported 4 cases of the virus, 3 from Kerala and one from New Delhi. While the patients in Kerala reportedly contracted the virus in the Middle East, the case in Delhi does not have any history of foreign travel and was reportedly infected during a stag party in Manali.
