With less than a month until school starts, Columbus City Schools has left the bargaining table. It seems likely that teachers will strike. More than two years into a pandemic and teachers are still fighting to get kids what they deserve. Here's some of what @ColumbusEA wants –
1. #ColumbusStudentsDeserve smaller class sizes!

According to @ColumbusEA, there's no difference in cost for Columbus City Schools so what's the deal? Smaller class sizes benefit kids' differentiated needs in learning spaces, y'all.
2. #ColumbusStudentsDeserve full-time art, music, and physical education teachers at the elementary level

Y'all better stop playing with these electives. Kids deserve to run, sing, create, and play with teachers who are in schools full-time!
3. #ColumbusStudentsDeserve functional heating and air conditioning in all classrooms.

Because Maslow tells us that kids need/deserve the bare minimum to thrive in a learning space. Image
4. #ColumbusStudentsDeserve elementary teachers who have necessary planning time.

like really – have y'all ever tried to teach 20+ 7-year-olds at once? Give these folks whatever they need.
5. #ColumbusStudentsDeserve to have the teachers who live and love Columbus, not some privatized learning conglomerate or outside organization.

Invest in them.
lastly, here's more about what's happening in Columbus right now: dispatch.com/story/news/edu…

okay....so we just won’t use that term, bro. we still gon’ teach the kids the truth.
I think it’s so funny that these people think that banning these terms will stop us from using the theory subversively in curriculum and classrooms.
last week, my friend told me about a lesson on reparations she created using a rock collection metaphor (and never mentioning race). and y’all think banned “critical race theory” will stop us from teaching the truth?!
