🚨BREAKING: Federal court STRIKES DOWN strict residency requirements for voter registration contained in Texas voter suppression law #SB1111, finding that they violate the U.S. Constitution. More info to come. democracydocket.com/cases/texas-re…
The 2021 law prohibited establishing residence “for the purpose of influencing the outcome of a certain election,” added strict voter ID requirements for voters that use P.O. boxes to register to vote and more.
Texas State @LULAC and @votolatino filed a lawsuit challenging that the law violated the 1st, 14th and 26th Amendments of the U.S. Constitution.
"The burden imposed [by SB 1111] is 'severe,' if not insurmountable. Such an insurmountable burden is not easily overcome. Certainly not by Texas's stated interest in ensuring Texans only have one residence. Instead the law renders some Texans without any residence [to vote]."

.@DickDurbin: “According to a recent survey, roughly 1 in 5 election officials plans on leaving their job ahead of the next presidential election. This mass exodus coincides with an ongoing organized effort by Big Lie promoters to secure jobs administering elections...”

🚨BREAKING: Pennsylvania Supreme Court UPHOLDS Act 77, the state’s major election reform law that establishes no-excuse mail-in voting. More information to come. democracydocket.com/cases/pennsylv…
Act 77 was passed in 2019 by the Republican-controlled Pennsylvania Legislature. In addition to establishing no-excuse mail-in voting, the law also allowed more time to register to vote before an election, funded new election equipment and more.
A member of Bradford County Board of Elections and a group of Republican state legislators (who originally passed the law👀) filed lawsuits arguing that the no-excuse mail-in voting provision violated the PA Constitution.
Tomorrow is a big primary day with elections in Arizona, Kansas, Michigan, Missouri, Ohio and Washington. But watch out for these election deniers on the ballot.👀
👇🧵
In Arizona’s gubernatorial race, Trump's “Big Lie” candidate of choice is Kari Lake. Spewing unfounded conspiracy theories, Lake has repeatedly called for "decertifying" Arizona's 2020 election results, despite being legally impossible.
Election denier Mark Finchem is running to be Arizona’s secretary of state. He led the "Stop the Steal" movement in Arizona, protested election results on Jan. 6, accepted Trump's fake electors scheme and has stated he will not concede if he loses. nytimes.com/2022/08/01/us/…
Attorneys representing the counties make their opening statements and argue that there is “no case or controversy” before the court, meaning that they believe that the state doesn't have standing to bring this lawsuit
🚨⚖️COURT ALERT: A hearing is scheduled for tomorrow, July 28, in a lawsuit over undated mail-in ballots in Pennsylvania.
Here's what you need to know.👇🧵
On July 11, @PAStateSec and @PAStateDept sued Berks, Fayette and Lancaster counties for their failure to include valid undated mail-in ballots in election certification totals for the 2022 primary election. democracydocket.com/alerts/pennsyl…
First, let’s define what exactly “valid undated mail-in ballots” are. The mail-in ballots in question were sent in by eligible voters and received on time, but were simply missing a handwritten date on the outer return envelopes.
