The most obvious fixture to target, and considering Liverpool’s great fixtures the first 7 GWs, a triple up seems almost essential. Salah, Trent and one of Robbo/Diaz/Nunez 🔒
GW 1 Player Recommendations:
GK 🧤
🔴 Ramsdale (5.0)
Arsenal have very good fixtures and have really impressed in preseason. Should get a good amount of clean sheets in the first 8 GWs, and Ramsdale offers saves and bonus points potential as well. Standout GK pick for me.
DEF 🛡
Perisic (5.5)
Excluding the most obvious picks, Perisic is one of the best defenders in FPL right now. Incredibly explosive player, playing for a good defence and should get enough minutes before UCL starts, to justify his price tag.
MID 🎯
🔴 Martinelli (6.0)
Great player, great fixtures, takes some set pieces and has looked great in preseason. Combining well with Jesus, Saka and Odegaard and with ESR not fit, Martinelli is basically guaranteed to start on the left wing for Arsenal. Potential bargain.
FWD ⚽️
🔴 Jesus (8.0)
There aren't many appealing forward options at the moment, so for me it’s a no-brainer to go with Jesus and one of Haaland/Kane up top. Jesus is well underpriced and has been one of the best players in preseason. 72% ownership!
GW 1 Player to Avoid ❄️
I can’t quite understand how Alisson’s ownership is 20%, when most people are struggling to decide which 3 outfield Liverpool players to go for. Having to sacrifice one of Trent, Salah, Robbo and Diaz is hard enough, having to sacrifice 2 is not an option
GW 1 Tips 💡
🔹 Don’t take risks for the sake of risk taking, but if you genuinely think that a low-owned player will outscore the template option, don’t be afraid to take that risk.
🔹 If possible, try to start with 0.5m ITB. It makes price rises much less of a problem.
GW 1 Dilemmas ⚖️
🔴Robertson vs Diaz
The third Liverpool spot is tricky and many are undecided between Robbo and Diaz. Personally, I prefer Robbo as he’s more of a guarantee and you know what you’ll get from him. Diaz is more difficult to predict and although he could be great,
we don’t really know yet. Robbo’s positioning in the Community Shield was very promising as well, he’s basically a winger with clean sheet points. The ownership of Liverpool defenders will be over 100%, so if you want to gain rank from their clean sheets, you’ll have to double up
💎 Haaland vs Kane ⚪️
Another dilemma for FPL managers is which premium striker to go for. In the end, I think you can’t go wrong here, both are very good picks. While Kane is Premier League proven, I just can’t look past the potential Haaland has.
BOU (H) in GW 2 is a standout fixture, City could easily score 5 goals in that game, and I wouldn’t want to go without Haaland for that one. Don’t be put off by the missed chances in the Community Shield, the most important thing is that he got the chances. The goals will follow.
GW 1 Captaincy
1) Mohamed Salah - 💰13.0
Fixture: FUL (A)
You know what you’re going to get with Salah. Previous GW record 👇
2021/22: NOR (A) - 17p ⚽️🅰️🅰️
2020/21: LEE (H) - 20p ⚽️⚽️⚽️
2019/20: NOR (H) - 12p ⚽️🅰️
2018/19 : WHU (H) - 8p ⚽️
2017/18: WAT (A) - 10p ⚽️🅰️
If you want a really low-owned captain, Jamie Vardy might the pick. BRE (H) is a great fixture and Vardy usually performs well at the start of a new season. It’s extremely risky, but the potential reward is high
First of all, I’d just like to make it clear that this is not a list of who I think will score the most points (that would just mean picking all the premiums), it’s a list of my favourite FPL picks. Value for money is therefore a big consideration, as well as other factors.
🔟 Neco Williams (4.0) 🔴
While we can’t expect a lot of clean sheets from Nottingham Forest, Williams is still a good pick (mainly for the low price tag). For only 4.0m, we get a starting wingback with decent attacking threat. The perfect 5th defender.

5️⃣ Mendy (5.0) 🔵
When the prices were released Mendy seemed like a bargain, with a price tag a whole million lower than last year. However, I don’t believe that Chelsea’s fixtures are great from a defensive point of view and with The Blues’ defence having looked shaky...
Jamie started the season with a 1m GW 1 rank and was still outside the Top 900k after GW 5. A huge 107 points score in GW 9 saw him break inside the Top 100k, where he stayed for the rest of the season.
He did, however, drop to 71k in GW 15 after 2 difficult GWs, before he went on a massive 7 GWs long streak of green arrows, which saw him rise all the way from 71k to 113th.
He went on to triple captain Salah in GW 26 for an 84-pointer, which took him all the way up to 33rd...
📌 Is this the week to FH?
📌 DGWers vs SGWers
📌 Can we trust Man Utd?
📌 Arsenal
📌 Leicester attackers
📌 Foundations
📌 Differentials
📌 Goalkeepers
📌 Free Hit drafts
Whether or not you should play your Free Hit this week is totally team dependent, but I do think this is a good opportunity. 7 teams have a DGW while 3 blank, meaning that this week presents a good chance to jump on DGWers simply for short term
