Logical for Guardsmen to participate in Ex Garuda Shield — the Natuna Islands (570 km) are w/in range of RSAF CH-47Fs. The SAF’s 7 SIB’s increased familiarisation w USARPAC heli-ops essential for coalition ops.

Air assault helicopters can be refuelled at sea by USN or RSN LPDs.
Given that the scenario is coalition ops in support of the TNI to take back Natuna Islands, golden hour medical evacuation for the injured can be to a role 1 hospital sitting off the coast — eg. RSS Resolution (208) deployed in support of the US Army led coalition air assault. Image
The SAF did not send airborne troopers to Ex Garuda Shield; instead the army deployment force supported by RSS Resolution (208) was tasked in an air assault role.

RSS Resolution can also carry a role 1 medical module, to provide golden hour medical coverage, for the coalition. Image
As with all tri-service combined arms live firing exercises, a good medical coverage plan is essential for safety of the coalition’s exercise troops — this includes planning for any no dove medical evacuation — during Ex Garuda Shield.
While RSS Resolution supports ops in Ex Garuda Shield, RSS Supreme (73) defends the amphibious task group & de-conflict coalition aircraft in the area. Below, RSS Supreme served as sea combatant commander at #RIMPAC & fired an Aster 30 missile at day 40.

1. Important to keep in mind that the RSAF with 5 squadrons (with 100 fighters) is a small air force.

2. IIRC, a single USAF fighter wing has 7 squadrons.

4. Singapore’s fighter fleet size (~100) is comparable to that of Thailand or Vietnam.

5. But if you measure the RSAF against Taiwan (379), Korea (482), or Japan (313), the RSAF is small or ~1/3 their size.

7. The RSAF used to have an orbat of 167 fighters but was downsized to about ~112, & may even go up to 124 (or more), before the F-16 fleet is slowly phased out.
