Tomorrow begins Early voting for the Florida Primaries. Among the races is a very competitive Democratic Primary for Governor of Florida. The two candidates, Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried and Congressman Charlie Crist have debated and put out ads,
(2/10)
both claiming they're the one who can beat Governor DeSantis, who unfortunately is still the favorite to win. However, I'd like to weigh in on this particular primary and explain who I support.
(3/10)
Congressman Crist has, while having some decent points not been the most consistent. Crist claims he can win the primary as he knows how to win Independent and Conservative voters since he was before a Republican Governor.
(4/10)
But what makes me reluctant to support him is firstly the afformentioned flip-flopping. Crist was elected Governor back in 2006 and in 2010 decided to run for the Senate to fill the seat being retired by Mel Martinez, first as a Republican but then as an Independent,
(5/10)
which split the votes from Democratic Candidate Kendrick Meek, & allowing Marco Rubio to win the race. On top of that is the fact Mr. Crist has had a history of taking money from the NRA & has decided to smear Fried as some wild extremist who "parties with Republicans."
(6/10)
Now, for the record, if Mr. Crist wins this primary, I'll gladly vote for him over Ron DeSantis. “Vote blue, no matter who."
Then there’s Commissioner Fried, who has proven, despite being more liberal than Crist, to still be electable and won statewide
(7/10)
in the 2018 midterms to become Commissioner of Agriculture. She's been a Democrat her entire political career and in her Position as Commissioner of Agriculture, has among other things, done her best to fight back against the influence of the NRA and Gun Lobby.
(8/10)
Nikki Fried is running on a platform of being "something new." I believe that Charlie Crist just isn't exactly what the State of Florida needs and it is indeed time for something new & for an end to 24 years of Republican Rule in Florida that has seen the Governor & State
(9/10)
Legislature focus more on Culture War issues and soundbites that pertain to their base than broader more real issues like Gun Violence, or Reproductive Rights, or how Teachers are being treated.
(10/10)
So, when you cast your primary vote for Governor either during Early Voting or on Primary Day, August 23rd, let's vote for #SomethingNew & elect @NikkiFried the next Governor of the State of Florida!

We are just 100 days away from the Midterm Elections and calling them "big" alone would be an understatement. These will be among the most important elections in our lifetime. I know that term gets thrown around every election cycle but it especially rings true this time.
(2/11)
So many issues are at stake and on the ballot ranging from Gun Violence, to Reproductive Rights, to Voting Rights, to Climate, to holding Trump and other 1/6 Enablers accountable. In 100 days we must turn out and vote as a broadened coalition down the ticket for Democrats.
(3/11)
For the past year & a half, President Biden & Democrats have gotten stuff done despite intense opposition & narrow majorities in Congress. It was President Biden & Democrats who passed the American Rescue Plan, which provided much needed aid & stimulus to Americans during

Today would’ve been Jaime Guttenberg’s 19th Birthday. I had the privilege to know Jaime & Gina Montalto when they volunteered at what was then known as the Friendship Initiative. Jaime made so many smile and I’ll be forever honored to have gotten the chance to meet her.
(2/8)
4 1/2 years ago, Jaime, Gina and 15 others were taken from us in a horrific act of Gun Violence. Jaime was just 14 when she left us.
(3/8)
Since that tragic day, we’ve never ceased to honor Jaime & all who were lost that day. We marched for our lives twice and we voted in 2018 & 2020, and will vote in 2022 to make sure tragedies like the one that took Jaime from us never happen again.

Last night, the United States Senate passed commonsensical Gun Violence Prevention Legislation. It will next head to the House where it’s expected to pass and then head to President Biden for signature. Of course it doesn’t include everything we wanted but this is by
(2/12)
no means a nothing burger. Also it won’t be the last bill we fight for, but it deserves to be celebrated.
This bill was a long time coming and was the result of so many people, it would take an eternity to list them all. I want to highlight a few.
(3/12)
Firstly, the organizers and activists of organizations like March for Our Lives, Moms Demand, Everytown for Gun Saftey, etc. Their grassroots efforts helped tremendously to get us where we are now.
We don’t do so lightly but it must be done. Despite having made progress since four years ago, we still have a Senate that despite a GIGANTIC swath of Americans, including Gun Owners, supporting commonsensical change, cannot get the votes to hurdle over the filibuster.
Unacceptable.
We demand the Senate pass these commonsensical bills, that although won’t solve everything, are the correct first steps to take in curbing this Epidemic of Gun Violence, and send them to President Biden’s desk for signature.
As we enter the 2022 Cycle, I’d like to just express some thoughts & be real.
I’d of course be delighted if we were to hold on to our majorities this November. But, midterm elections have a tendency to have the political pendulum swing the other direction from the
President’s Party. However, I can’t stress this enough; if the GOP wins in 2022, that does NOT guarantee the end of the Republic. We suffered a massive loss in 2010. Back then they were also right wing conspiracy theorists. What transpired was government gridlock.
Of course, some things are different from 2010. We do have far more extremists. But if we do lose in November, as upset as we may be on this site, we cannot allow it to hurt us to the extent where it no longer motivates us to turn out. It’ll be their fault, not ours.

22 years since Columbine, we still have a serious epidemic of Gun Violence in this country.
The solutions are straightforward but sadly there are still many opponents to change who still push the lies that their rights would end up being infringed on.
(2/5)
Nobody is infringing on anyone’s individual rights. We’re calling for background checks on PEOPLE, not guns. Mandatory Safety courses for PEOPLE, not guns. Stricter negligence penalties for PEOPLE, not guns. This isn’t about just the guns, it’s the people too.
(3/5)
Many law abiding Gun owners are in favor of these reforms. Sadly, the National Rifle Association is lobbying for a status quo that sees countless of American lives lost to what seems to be an endless amount of tragic shootings.
