Beginning this morning, outside the US Capitol, a group of Gun Violence Prevention activists led by @samschwartz03, cousin of Alex Schachter, one of the 17 who were taken too soon in Parkland, are taking part in a days-long sit-in to demand that Congress no longer wait and no longer consider political expediency and pass a ban on the sale of Assault Weapons. Schwartz put it best when he was interviewed by CNN; "There will always be the next election, but Congress cannot just talk and not act."

For the most part, Nikki Haley’s CNN town hall made her another average conservative that among other things is open to restrictions on Reproductive Rights, would do little to nothing about our Gun Violence Epidemic that statistically works. In addition to that, it’s not the best look when someone says teenage girls are contemplating suicide because transgender girls are “in their locker room.”

Tomorrow begins Early voting for the Florida Primaries. Among the races is a very competitive Democratic Primary for Governor of Florida. The two candidates, Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried and Congressman Charlie Crist have debated and put out ads, (2/10)
both claiming they're the one who can beat Governor DeSantis, who unfortunately is still the favorite to win. However, I'd like to weigh in on this particular primary and explain who I support.

We are just 100 days away from the Midterm Elections and calling them "big" alone would be an understatement. These will be among the most important elections in our lifetime. I know that term gets thrown around every election cycle but it especially rings true this time. (2/11)
So many issues are at stake and on the ballot ranging from Gun Violence, to Reproductive Rights, to Voting Rights, to Climate, to holding Trump and other 1/6 Enablers accountable. In 100 days we must turn out and vote as a broadened coalition down the ticket for Democrats.

Today would’ve been Jaime Guttenberg’s 19th Birthday. I had the privilege to know Jaime & Gina Montalto when they volunteered at what was then known as the Friendship Initiative. Jaime made so many smile and I’ll be forever honored to have gotten the chance to meet her. (2/8)
4 1/2 years ago, Jaime, Gina and 15 others were taken from us in a horrific act of Gun Violence. Jaime was just 14 when she left us.

Last night, the United States Senate passed commonsensical Gun Violence Prevention Legislation. It will next head to the House where it’s expected to pass and then head to President Biden for signature. Of course it doesn’t include everything we wanted but this is by (2/12)
no means a nothing burger. Also it won’t be the last bill we fight for, but it deserves to be celebrated.

This bill was a long time coming and was the result of so many people, it would take an eternity to list them all. I want to highlight a few.

Today, we March! 🧡 We don’t do so lightly but it must be done. Despite having made progress since four years ago, we still have a Senate that despite a GIGANTIC swath of Americans, including Gun Owners, supporting commonsensical change, cannot get the votes to hurdle over the filibuster.

As we enter the 2022 Cycle, I’d like to just express some thoughts & be real.
I’d of course be delighted if we were to hold on to our majorities this November. But, midterm elections have a tendency to have the political pendulum swing the other direction from the President’s Party. However, I can’t stress this enough; if the GOP wins in 2022, that does NOT guarantee the end of the Republic. We suffered a massive loss in 2010. Back then they were also right wing conspiracy theorists. What transpired was government gridlock.

22 years since Columbine, we still have a serious epidemic of Gun Violence in this country.

Nobody is infringing on anyone’s individual rights. We’re calling for background checks on PEOPLE, not guns. Mandatory Safety courses for PEOPLE, not guns. Stricter negligence penalties for PEOPLE, not guns. This isn’t about just the guns, it’s the people too.

On this #InternationalWomensDay , I want to honor two young women who sadly are no longer with us. Gina Montalto and Jaime Guttenberg were amazing, kind and generous young women who gave a lot of their time to share their talents with the world... ..Gina was a creative artist and Jaime was a talented dancer. I got the chance to know them at the Friendship Initiative Organization. They made their fellow volunteers and participants smile. Sadly, on Valentine’s Day of 2018...

I’ve been having a hard time picking who I want to vote for in the Primary, until I got home from the comedy show and in the #DemDebate closing statements, only one candidate mentioned taking on the NRA and... ..mentioning Las Vegas which my friend @nguyenbryan2016 has suffered a loss from. A candidate who called families who lost loved ones like when he called @fred_guttenberg after Parkland, a candidate who helped pass the ‘94-‘04 Assault Weapons Ban...

Recently, my friend @fred_guttenberg has come under fire by some Supporters of Bernie Sanders. I can definitely say that Fred is not targeting anyone, he is certainly NOT a racist and is actually a very determined and down to earth person. I however believe that.. ..we must not pick on those who have gone through heavy losses like Fred. Another point is that the only person benefiting off of these attacks is Donald Trump. He wants us to all be divided and squabble so he can sneak through and do his corrupt deeds...
