1. No stupid romance angle. I wish more writers would have the courage not to shoehorn a romance into every movie.
2. No wasted dialog. Almost no exposition of Native American culture. It was much more realistic.

3. The lead (Amber Midthunder) is a young, Native American girl who loves to hunt. They don’t waste time hyping up fake angst over this point. There’s a little chauvinism, but it’s subtle.
4. Focus. No “clever” sub-plots. There’s one plot, one goal, and they stick to it.

5. Good mix of mystery and reveal for the Predator. It’s not hidden too much, and not revealed too much. Very good balance which maintains good tension, but not frustrating.
6. Very good fighting choreography and use of weapons.

7. No bad accents. The characters just talk in their natural voices. They speak English and make no apologies for it. They don’t try to validate that choice by using some bastardized Native American accent to make it acceptable.

8. Very clever twist using conflict with another group of people (which I won’t mention here) that caught me completely by surprise and fit perfectly into the story.

9. The movie isn’t trying to make a point about Native American culture, women as warriors, or colonization. It allows the characters to just “be”. Similar to Furiosa in Mad Max, the lead just “is”. There’s no explanation or justification for her being the lead.

I think that’s it. I really, really enjoyed the movie. I’m glad it was on streaming, but they really missed a chance to have a huge hit at the theaters.
