In chapter 996 it was revealed that Law had established a new dream. He had decided that he wanted to learn the truth about the Will of D.
In order to understand where this dream came from & how it is the same as Robin's dream, we have to look back at Law's backstory.
The roots of this new dream of Law's come from the discussion he had with Corazon, in which Cora explained to Law that those with the hidden name 'D' are considered the 'natural enemies of the Gods'.
Cora explained that the Celestials fear the D clan because it is said that 'they will cause another storm'.
This implied that they had caused a storm before & what the Celestials feared most is that it will happen again.
So Law wants to learn the truth about the Will of D, but how is that the same dream as Robin's?
Well Robin wants to learn the 'True History' & this is also inherently tied to the lore of the Will of D.
Law even says in 1031 that his goal also requires learning the true history.
But why is it that Oda decided to give Law the same dream as Robin? What is the significance of Law having the same dream as her?
I believe that we can get a good understanding of this by looking at the parallels in their backstories.
The most apparent parallel between Robin & Law's backstories is that both came from islands that were destroyed by the World Government.
Oda even portrayed the two scenes in the exact same way, having Robin & Law look on in despair as their country burns.
The next parallel is that both were on the run from the World Government throughout their younger years & they were the sole survivors of the destruction of their islands.
Both Robin & Law went on the run from the World Government & ended up joining Warlords, Crocodile & Doflamingo.
Robin was to become Crocodile's righthand woman & Law was to be raised to become Doflamingo's right hand man.
So we can see that both Robin & Law had very similar experiences in their backstories & Oda has done this intentionally.
But how does this explain why exactly Oda gave Law & Robin the same dream?
Well to understand that, we have to consider the significance of it all.
I believe that the biggest clue comes from the fact that the Will of D & the True History are inherently tied together, two sides of the same coin
Robin is known to the Revolutionaries as 'The Flame of Revolution' & Law is one of the D who will 'Cause another storm'
This ties us back to a few scenes concerning Robin, the first of which is when she revealed her dream to Cobra & said that her dream just had too many enemies.
The second is that Robin said in Zou that she now has strong friends who will protect her.
Of course is seems that Robin is referring to the Straw Hats when she says she has strong friends who will protect her.
However, I believe that this is why Oda has been building trust between Robin & Law.
Aside from the Straw Hats, Robin actually has two other powerful friends who have already sworn to or would want to protect her. These are Aokiji & Law.
Back when the alliance were first formed with Law, Oda made a point of showing that Robin did not trust him.
Since then, we have seen trust & friendship build between the two, to the point that Robin is comfortable being alone with him & discussing her dream with him.
This is massively significant for both Robin & Law because both struggled to trust people throughout their lives.
Law is the only person outside of the crew that Robin has established this level of trust with.
The reason Robin & Law developed this bond can be explained by their similar past experiences. Oda intentionally laid foundations for them to understand each other.
This bond will likely be very important going forward, as it has been said that Robin's life will be in danger.
I believe that this is the reason why Oda decided to give Law the same dream as Robin.
In order to learn the True History & discover truth of the Will of D, Robin is essential.
So I believe that Oda is setting the stage for Law to save Robin's life.
This would connect us back to the fact that Law was willing to die for his initial dream of revenge against Doflamingo.
Willingness to die for a dream is a theme we've seen before through Luffy & it seems to be a huge factor of the Will of D.
Putting all this together. I believe that the reason why Oda decided to give Law the same dream as Robin is because Law's final role in the story will be to save Robin's life & ensure that she is able to fulfil the dream for both of them.
I believe that Law will die saving Robin & in doing so, ensure that the True History is revealed.
This will 'ignite' the 'Flame of Revolution' (Robin) & the revolution that follows will be the 'storm' that the it was said the D will bring once more.
I believe that the reason why Oda gave Law the same dream as Robin is because he is the D who will bring the storm
Law may end up being the single most important character in the entire story with this potential role
Law would die with a smile on his face.
I first started this theory almost 2 years ago
Originally it was going to be framed as a Romeo & Juliet story but then I started thinking that Law won't see Robin as a lover.
Robin probably reminds Law of his little sister, Lami & this would be another reason why he saves her.

This theory is a sort of sequel to another one of my theories - 'The Voice of all Things & The Music of the Universe'. - This theory will expand on some of the same ideas discussed in that theory.

Ever since we found out that Aokiji had left the Marines we have been wondering what his future role might be.
We later learned that he had decided to join Blackbeard. But why did he do this?
The answer may tell us what his future role will be.
When Aokiji appeared in Punk Hazard, he reassured Smoker that he was 'still himself' & that his reasonings for doing what he did was so that he could operate without the restrictions & oversight of the World Government.
