Let me explain the difference between Hillary’s emails and what’s happening now.
Hillary used a private BUT SECURED server to conduct work that involved classified docs. As a primary matter, she got PERMISSION to do so, and her server was set up to satisfy the specs of the DOS
for the handling and transmission of such information. Every document that went through that server was allowed to do so when DOS gave her permission for the level of classification at issue.
There are different levels of security designation for documents & only people with
corresponding clearance are allowed to see them. Hillary wasn’t charged because the Secretaries before her had done the same thing, and there was NO EVIDENCE that any classified docs got out of the chain of trackable custody.
They would know this because EVERY classified doc
is given its own number for tracking purposes.
So the accusation against Hillary morphed from mishandling, or failing to secure classified docs, to discussing classified info in non-classified correspondence.
Out of the thousands of emails, they found less than ten that
discussed anything remotely related to classified info, and determined that they were so minor that they couldn’t prove the elements of the crime (although God knows they wanted to).
Nothing classified was found on Huma Abbedien’s laptop, just some of Hillary’s emails that she
worked on.
Contrast that with Trump walking out of the WH with cases of top secret documents, without notifying anyone, and storing them in a location that was unsecured and open to all manner of people.
Keep in mind that the Sec of State, while having access to a lot, does
NOT have the same access as the Commander in Cheif. All of our top national security and clandestine ops info can be accessed by the CINC, not so much the Sec State. And even if the Sec State has the clearance, they don’t have a need to know.
So the two situations are nowhere
near comparable.
What DFG has done is completely reckless and incredibly dangerous to the security of this nation. He took documents he no longer had a need to see or handle AT ALL, for his own personal purposes, not to do the work of the country.
He stored them in a
location and manner that could not POSSIBLY be secured or monitored.
The only reason there’s ANY doubt about him going to prison is because he’s HIM,the one who has always been placed above the law
Anyone else would be one their way to a very long stay in a federal penn by now

Nick: I explained this phenomenon as the vestiges of a siege mentality, that causes the GOP mind to disconnect from what is real, and frame literally everything as good for the cause, or bad for the cause.
Once something is deemed good for the cause, they will support it and
use the most potent rhetoric they can conjure to defend it. The truth or plausibility of what they utter is completely irrelevant, as is the inherent merit of what they deem to be good for the cause. That’s why I call what they say word bullets. Not communication. They speak
to inflict damage, not to persuade or reach agreement.
An artifact of this phenomenon is that the moment something or someone is deemed no longer good for the cause, they will turn on it with equal vitriol.
This mindset, that foregoes the need for anything to be actually true
For the most part, the big party money and DNC gave up on FL in 2020.
I wish it weren’t true, but it is. The issue for me is that it couldn’t come at a worse time.
Stopping DeSantis in FL now, will cost us a great deal less than trying to stop him as the GOP nom in 24.
But Dems down here don’t learn. And the time to have invested to stop DeSantis was 18 months ago.
Sure, we’ll make a bunch of TV stations rich in October, but the game was about X’s and O’s last year, and we still have nowhere near the GOTV machine of the GOP.
We also don’t have a private police force and control of the Secretary of State, who is a 100% DeSantis loyalist. There is ZERO chance that the Sec state will certify the election for anyone but DeSantis.
Our best hope is to have so much Blue turn out that the key counties
I also think the pundits are assuming a cohesion in the GOP that I’m not so sure exists.
MAGA v. GOP is not a thing, but MAGA v. Insufficiently MAGA is. DFG is mercurial at best, and will withhold support from those who don’t go all in for him.
By the same token, the 1/6
committee work, which is WAY more effective than I think any of us thought it would be, is making support and allegiance to DFG toxic to huge swaths of the electorate.
Factor that in with the general aging into the electorate of Gen Z, and seriously pissed off women…
I’m not seeing a red wave.
I’m just not.
It may be close (may not be), but I think the polls are reading Biden’s low approval the wrong way.
I also think inflation and gas prices have been high so long, they may be just a status quo at this point. Not as effective
What our eyes, ears and brains show us from the events is that Trump had DIRECT control over the rioters and EVERY SINGLE PERSON on his team, including him, KNEW IT!
In that context, what he was telling the rioters was not vague allusion,or even encouragement
It was direct order, that Trump observed being carried out. Fifteen minutes after the left the stage he was informed that his orders were being carried out.
In those circumstances there is no plausible argument that the behavior of the rioters was disconnected from his words.
1) an agreement 2) between two or more persons 3) to knowingly commit a crime 4) that is advanced by some action.
A seditious conspiracy is when there is an agreement and action to unlawfully interfere with the execution of a law (like
counting votes).
Contrary to what some keep asserting, you do NOT NEED smoking gun, full confession on every element. Some elements can, and most often are, proved by circumstantial evidence.
So the question is, was there an “agreement” between Trump and even one other person
to enter into the Capitol building, for the purpose of halting the vote count, which was an exercise of law?
And I think there is OVERWHELMING evidence that there was, because Trump summoned people to the elipse, was informed that they were armed and awaiting his instruction,
Let’s say you had a friend who tipped you off that he was gonna rob the bank you work for, and all he needed you to do was distract the guard while on shift.
And let’s say you knew bank robbery was wrong, but you really hated your boss and felt he deserved it.
Now, let’s say
that on the day of the robbery, everything is in place and the robber and his crew show up for the caper, and they give you the signal to distract the guard, and you do your part.
But then the police show up, and the robbery is foiled.
Does it matter that you played a role
in the scheme to distract the guard, and actually did so, even if you weren’t the robber, and the capper didn’t succeed?
Answer: HELL YES!!
That’s why the 147 members of Congress who voted not to certify the election committed unforgivable crimes, and should never be allowed
