How @officialABAT Bola Ahmed Tinubu's One Day Governor Tradition "disenfranchised" the Igbo young students in Lagos.
It is a going to be a long thread. Hope I won't be cancelled today. #IYD2022
Alexander Ezenagu lived in a one room apartment with his parents & 8 siblings. Due to financial problem, 4 of his siblings dropped from school. Alex kept himself in school by hawking petty items, wash car and clothes, carry luggage & run errands to earn money #IYD2022
At SS3, Alex was pronounced the best student in his school&was selected to represent the school at the regional qualifiers of 2004 Spelling Bee Competition organised by the New Era Foundation, a legacy of the then former First Lady of Lagos State, Senator Oluremi Tinubu #IYD2022
Alex won and represented Oshodi-Isolo Local Government Area at the State Challenge where he contested against 56 others and came third. Though Alex was not the overall winner, his position got him into the "Council of One Day Governors". That event changed Alex's life #IYD2022
Alex was admitted into University of Ibadan in 2005 and went on to graduate with First Class Honors in Law in 2010. Impressed by his success story, Senator Oluremi Tinubu led a high-profile delegation to celebrate with Alex on the day of his graduation day in UI #IYD2022
Alex was worried about the Law School Program's high tuition fee. Again, the New Era Foundation paid Alex's Law School tuition fee and all his maintenance was covered by a scholarship scheme established by the Former Chairman of Oshodi Isolo LGA, Hon Afeez Ipesa Balogun #IYD2022
In 2011, Alex graduated from Law School with First Class again and was called to Bar. Alex went on to University of Cambridge for his Masters. He currently works with a Law firm called "Templars".
Today, that Legacy of BAT's "One Day Governor" have shaped so many lives #IYD2022
Alexander Ezenagu, from a poor background is today one of the success story of such legacy #IYD2022
Ebuka Anisiobi, the first winner in 2001 got scholarship from the Lagos State Government to study Computer Engineering in Obafemi University. Today, Anisiobi is now a qualified Engineer and works with OANDO Plc. #IYD2022
Tope Adeyemi, the winner in 2002 graduated with First Class in Botany, University of Lagos and also became the youngest Doctorate Degree Holder in Africa in the history of the University. #IYD2022
Emmanuel Ayenitaju, who won in 2003 graduated with First Class in Chemistry, University of Lagos.
Today, winners of @officialABAT's legacy on "One Day Governor" get award of cash prizes and other prizes such as an all expense paid educational program to Finland #IYD2022
The objective of this BAT's legacy is to encourage & develop the younger ones to attain their respective dreams and aspirations in life. But more importantly, is to expose the young ones to leadership culture thereby preparing them for future role in nation building #IYD2022
It was not surprising that the successors of @officialABAT in Lagos State have all sustained this laudable legacy. Today, that legacy must be protected, nurtured and sustained.
Good morning Your Excellency and once again congratulations on your election as APC Presidential Candidate.
However, I must confess to you sir that this is going to be toughest campaign you will ever face and here are my reasons.
I'm a member of APC. A loyal party member but I'm someone who is a realist and who has vowed to speak truth to the power regardless of my party affiliations.
You will recall in 2015 sir that our party campaigned on 3 major points namely;
1. Insecurity 2. Economy 3. Corruption
INSECURITY:
At the inception of our administration, we were able to push the insurgents to the far North East in Sambisa Forest. We were able to get necessary military infrastructures and equipments for our military and other security agencies.
There are two types of consensus. Let me explain this in a short thread with examples.
The first one is when a Governor endorse an aspirant. Where we have more than one aspirant, the Governor can consult and appeal to them to step down for his preferred aspirant.
If the Governor was able to convince them and they agree to his terms, what you will see on the day of primary is just AFFIRMATION.
For instance Senator Sani and Dattijo in Kaduna.
The second scenario is when the Governor has a preferred aspirant and there other aspirants. These other aspirants refused to step down for the Governor's choice.
What then happen is that the Governor use all his access/party structures/state apparatus...
At the panel session this morning, we first identified some electoral hotspots in Ekiti using historical background of violence in such areas and other factors. Some of these hotspots include:
Ikole LGA with the following specific areas Ipao, Igede, Iyemero Oke Ako cos of the porous border with Kogi and Kwara State
Other hotspots include Ekiti East specifically Omuo, Gbonyin with special focus on Aisegba Ekiti. Irepodun/Ifelodun with special focus on Iworoko, Oye LGA.
Some of the triggered factors include:
Use of security operatives in collaboration with thugs to disrupt the process..
Ebonyi & Ekiti were created in 1996 by late Sanni Abbacha.
I stumbled on some data in the middle of the night while doing some reading & I'm not sorry to say this,we've been unfortunate with visionary set of leaders in Ekiti state.
I've gone through your review on Engr Kayode Ojo and I will love to make certain points. In the latest interview he did, he clearly stated his visions some of which you highlighted in your review. But let us break them down.
For years, Ekiti seems not to have any DEVELOPMENT MASTER PLAN. If we do, I'm sure they are outdated. The current administration is working on one. For sake of continuity and sustainability, he promised to review it and harmonise with his own. Fair enough.
Specifically, he gave a timeline of 6 months to review the ongoing Development Master Plan of Ekiti by the current administration, harmonise with the one his team is working on and we can then have a robust Development Master Plan for the state.
In the last few days, Mr @Olayinkalere has been spreading one news about @ekitistategov selling the Ekiti House at Asokoro Abuja.
As usual, the news has been spreading like fire & my Egbon @leespanyol just put it on his TL.
First, it is nothing but Fake news.
Thread.
Note: I don't work with the state govt so I expect them to issue official statement in due course.
However, Egbon Lere is known for fake news and most of our people can easily buy this news.
The onus is on people like us to find out the truth and set the record straight.
So let us look at the House in question. The Ekiti House that Lere is claiming to have been sold was bought by Segun Oni's administration. The house was renovated to suit the taste of the then govt.
After Oni left office, Fayemi used the house in 1st term for 4years.
