Raising his glass of champagne, Izuku drank it down like water, the reception hall around him was dead silent.
Handing off the microphone, Izuku set his empty glass aside and stepped away from the stage.
No one knew what to do.
No one knew what to say or how to react.
There were only a few people who knew the past drama and the situation as a whole.
How Izuku and Katsuki had been deeply in love, or so Izuku had thought. How Katsuki had never been willing to think of a secure future with Izuku. ‘I’m not the marrying type!’ He’d argue.
How Katsuki had gone behind Izuku’s back and slept with Kirishima, whom he’d met at a club one night while out with the BakuSquad and who went to a different university and was ignorant of the fact that Katsuki was in a committed relationship with Izuku.
To Kirishima’s credit, he hadn’t known and as far as Izuku knew he'd never found out.
𝘜𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘭 𝘯𝘰𝘸.
It wasn’t the appropriate time or place, he knew that, but did he care?
No.
Izuku had been a doormat for long enough and Katsuki should have known better than to invite him to his f*cking wedding to the man he cheated on him with.
As far as Izuku was concerned, 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘒𝘢𝘵𝘴𝘶𝘬𝘪’𝘴 𝘧𝘢𝘶𝘭𝘵.
The first to break the silence was Kirishima.
“What is he talking about, Kats?”
“Uhm, well…”
“Were you dating Izuku when you asked me out?! When you SLEPT WITH ME?!”
“Yes, but..!”
“But what?! You thought that I wouldn’t care that you were cheating?!”
Although this whole disaster was prompted by his speech and even though a part of him wanted to bask in the chaos that was about to crash down around Katsuki, Izuku stepped away, weaving his way through the fancily decorated tables, heading for the exit.
Some of the BakuSquad gave him dirty looks, muttering insults as he passed.
“F*cking scumbag.”
“Low blow.”
Smirking, Izuku just shrugged and walked past. What were they going to do?
Curse him out for speaking the truth? Fine, bring it on. He was game. He knew their dirty little secrets. Denki was acting like he didn't want to steal Katsuki away from him during their third year at University.
And Mina was acting like she hadn’t had a huge crush on Kirishima and been a bitter b*tch when she found out he was gay.
Meanwhile, Ochako was giving him a surprised but proud look. Iida looked a bit disappointed in him, and he was sure he’d get a lecture about it later, but Izuku couldn’t bring himself to care.
But as he was about to step out of the reception hall and make his exit, the shout behind him made him hesitate.
"YOU’RE A F*CKING PIECE OF SH*T!"
He’d never heard Kirishima use that kind of language before and his voice boomed over all the other side chatter that had started to circulate with Izuku’s exit.
“I CAN'T BELIEVE I MARRIED YOU!”
While Izuku never intended to ruin the wedding, or worse, end the marriage mere hours after the vows had been given and the papers had been signed, he wasn’t necessarily upset with the outcome.
𝘒𝘪𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘮𝘢 𝘥𝘦𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘦𝘥 𝘣𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘯 𝘒𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘶𝘴𝘬𝘪.
“IZUKU, WAIT UP!”
Looking back over his shoulder, he watched Kirishima rise from the bridal table and shrug off Katsuki’s hold as he tried to desperately stop Kirishima from leaving him.
“Eiji, please! Don't do this!” At one time Katsuki's pleading tone would have tugged on Izuku’s heart strings and made him feel sympathy for his former best friend - there was no way they’d be friends after this, he was sure - but now?
Nope.
It was as if by putting everything out in the open, Izuku was finally able to let go of his feelings too. It was liberating.
Several people tried to stop Kirishima from leaving, including Katsuki’s parents, but Kiri just shrugged them off and moved through them to get to Izuku.
Without a word, Izuku offered Kirishima his arm and smirked a bit when the redhead took it. “F*ck I need a drink. Let's find a bar somewhere.”
Izuku couldn't have agreed more.
____
“I can’t believe him! So the whole time Denki and Mina knew that Katsuki had cheated on you to be with me and just didn’t mention it?” Kirishima asked, flabbergasted.
“More or less, yeah. They were there at the club when you two met and they supported it. Denki never liked me. He blamed me for him 'losing his chance' with Katsuki in University." As if Denki had a chance with Katsuki.
"And from what I’ve heard, Mina had a crush on you from the start and hoped to steal you away from Katsuki until she figured you were gay and not bi.” Izuku said with a shrug as he sipped his scotch.
“I’m blown away…it’s like I didn’t know them at all!” Kirishima exclaimed, clearly hurt and flabbergasted by all of these revelations.
“You think you know someone, right?” Izuku knew how that felt. 100%.

“He’s a f*cking cheater! He cheated on you AND me for 𝘮𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘩𝘴, and I had no clue!” That was probably the revelation that hurt Kirishima the most. Katsuki had met Kirishima and started dating him 𝘸𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘦 he was still dating Izuku, but he never knew.
Kirishima had met Izuku once or twice, but they’d never really talked. Kirishima had known that Katsuki and Izuku had dated but Kiri had just assumed that it was too awkward for Izuku to interact with him as the ex-boyfriend and he was right, to an extent.
In the end Katsuki had chosen Kirishima, fallen in love with him and wanted a future with him.
But given how their relationship had started and all the secrets that were kept, did it matter?
No, because Kiri would never be able to truly trust Katsuki knowing that their relationship had been founded on a lie. Worse still, that the relationship was founded on cheating.
“I’m so sorry, Izuku. I swear, I had no idea…” Kirishima gave Izuku a sincere look, his gaze so sad and deep that he knew that Kiri was completely sincere.
“It’s not your fault, Kirishima. Katsuki is the one to blame.”
“Damn right. What a snake…” Kiri grimaced and ran a hand through his hair. His bowtie was undone and hanging limply around the collar of his shirt. The top three buttons of his shirt were undone to reveal some of his chest and his jacket was hung over the back of his barstool.
Izuku’s attire was pretty much the same. He’d felt suffocated in his tux but now that they were drowning their sorrows at the bar, neither of them cared how they looked. Sure, they got some looks, but who cared?
“I’m assuming an annulment is in order?” That seemed like a stupid question but Katsuki could be very persuasive and the blond - and his goons - had been blowing up each of their phones since they left the reception hall.
“Damn straight. I’m not going to wait around for him to find someone else to cheat on me with. Once a cheater, always a cheater.” Slamming the rest of his drink, Kirishima winced lightly.
“I’m sorry that you had to find out like that. I wasn’t planning on dropping that bomb, but in the moment, I just couldn't keep my mouth shut anymore.” Izuku knew that it was a d*ck move.
He could have talked to Kirishima in private before the ceremony but then if Katsuki got left at the altar that’d make him the victim wouldn't it?
And Katsuki wasn't the victim.
“Izuku…did you mean what you said back at the reception?”
Arching a brow, Izuku looked at Kirishima curiously. “Which part?”
“That you hoped I’d cheat on him.”
Izuku shrugged and swirled the scotch in his glass. “Maybe? I just…” Sighing, he frowned and shook his head.
“I just want him to feel the pain that I felt, ya know? He’s never been cheated on, he has no idea what that feels like.”
Izuku wanted payback and he got it. The love of his life was going to annul their marriage and walk away from him forever.
“Would you think less of me if I wanted to make him hurt that way too?” Kirishima asked with a low tone.
“No, Kiri. I wouldn’t.”
“...What if we made him hurt together…?”
Izuku’s cheeks flushed deeply at the implications of those words.

______
Katsuki and Izuku had been together since College. They’d reconciled in high school and fostered a strong friendship which eventually led to deeper feelings of affection and love. Their relationship was strong, stronger than many would have anticipated, given their history.
After their falling out in elementary school and Katsuki’s bullying in middle school Izuku’s self-esteem and trust in others had taken a major blow.
Katsuki had been his best friend. The one person that he loved (platonically at the time) and trusted more than anyone.
Ever since he'd learned what soulmates were and what they could mean, he'd eagerly awaited his 18th birthday. Years seemed to pass by at a snail's pace.
School dragged on and on, but Izuku was diligent. He wanted to make sure he had good grades so that he could get a good job and prove to his soulmate that he was 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘩.
Izuku and Katsuki met during their first year of college and hit it off right away. Katsuki's brash and abrasive attitude complimented Izuku's outgoing and kind nature perfectly.
Their friends said that Izuku 'smoothed out' Katsuki's rough edges.
Izuku was an only child, having grown up in a small coastal town while Katsuki had a brother and grew up in a larger city. The two had met by chance at the campus cafe when their orders had gotten mixed up.
"Why the hell does my cup say 'Deku' on it, hah?!" Katsuki growled.
Three years since he'd seen Izuku in anything besides social media posts and family photos hung up on Auntie Inko's wall.
Three years since he'd had a real conversation with his friend. Phone calls were always brief and slightly awkward - what did you say to someone you used to babysit? Someone who used to (maybe still did) have a crush on you?
