I find it hard to listen to music with a lot of lyrics when I'm taking writing seriously. So here are my top choices for instrumental music, that isn't just classical, and is available on youtube if it's helpful! #phdvoice
1) All animal crossing music is instrumental and very relaxing. The music is often seasonal, and youtube has a lot of complication music from various console games over the years. The rainy day compilations are also very melodic!
2) If I'm going for a more intense writing vibe, I listen to Mario Kart music! It's not for everyone, but it works for me so it might work for you.
3) Music from the 40s is also very instrumental, sometimes there are some lyrics but in this particular summer compilation the added sounds of summer distract from the words so I barely notice them.
4) I'm a huge Call Me By Your Name fan, and the movie music is beautiful. This compilation is inspired by the movie music but is completely instrumental. It's also lovely background music for reading.
5) Another great instrumental movie soundtrack is Chocolat. A nice mixture of upbeat and slow songs.
6) Lastly, this compilation of smooth 20s, 30s and 40s jazz songs is very easy listening. It can also be used for dinner parties 🥂
From these videos, Youtube will often suggest very similar music in the suggestions panel and if you just click through some of those you can find plenty more videos that are great for studying, writing and reading! 😀
I have to add this one to the list which was just sent to me by @Holly_LB because it’s amazing 🤩
Another to add to the list. @SophieSyms and I love 'The King' and the soundtrack is superb.
