Bharat just marked it's 75th year of independence. A thread on a what it could have achieved but failed to, and the opportunities that lie ahead.

@OurTemples @trramesh @tnhrcedept @dharmic_indians @AalayamKaappom @PankajSaxena84 @karthikgnath @jsaideepak
1/25
The enormous potential for development in scientific research, economy, politics, education & social justice in the domains of architecture, design, crowd mgmt, organization building, etc that Bharat could have had but never had.

#ReclaimTemples
2/26
Temple mgmt is not mere standardization, secularization & centralization. It's definitely not only about counting Hundiyal. In fact focusing on only these is a SIN perpetuated against the temples. Temple management is about recognizing it's own unique culture,
3/26
it's deity's philosophy and nurturing an ecosystem around the same. Hindu dharma was never one but a collection of co-existing ideas. Standardizing temples is not only impossible but attempting to do so is a sin @tnhrcedept
4/26
Every temple is a living entity. It requires stakeholders to maintain it's traditions and it supports them back for their livelihood. The traditions in turn provide for the betterment of the devotees and their enlightenment - materially, mentally & spiritually.
5/26
Each temple has so much treasure. It should be used to promote devotees' welfare thru & only thru the deities' philosophies of life. The temples used to fund trade activities which promoted export from this land and in turn, boosted science and infra development. We were the
6/26
dominant traders in the Indian ocean and probably in the world, until 14th century. The source of this trade was temple wealth. Where are the temple specific Dharmic Fund Houses that should have promoted dharmic way of wealth creation but never have been, @tnhrcedept?
7/26
Today, temples promote casteism by money and authority. If you pay more or are powerful, you will be taken closer to the god. How's it different from the social injustice of dalit entry prohibition and supposed brahmin superiority?
8/26
Oh wait, today the @tnhrcedept officials, the wealthy & the politicians/bureaucrats with authority are the new brahmins. Where's the social justice that could've been but not @tnhrcedept?
9/26
Every temple has so much land given to it by it's bhaktars. They belong to the bhaktars through the deity. Why are they being leased to secular entities? Where are the educational institutions that could have been built on these lands, researched on indic ways of life,
10/26
promoted the community's education and development, but had never been @tnhrcedept? Of course, snatching temple land & resources by a govt. to build secular colleges on it's own name amounts not to good will but to thievery.
11/26
As per aagama, every temple is designed ergonomically to enforce into the devotee, healthy body and mind. Where's the research to understand these designs & use them in our daily lives? A thing that could have benefitted the world but had never been @tnhrcedept
12/26
My eyes opened when I saw Gurudwara ponds being kept pristine clean. They clean & whitewash the ponds regularly, probably once in few weeks. When was the last time you saw a temple pond cleaned up?
13/26
If a pond requires so much maintenance, imagine how many people ONE temple could support for providing to it's overall maintenance; a living community. How many temple communities have been taken away from the temple and eventually Hindu fold?
14/26
When's the last we saw a temple deeply cleaned? How'll the Hindu mind focus & appreciate it's 'Swamy' if his Swamy's home is dirty, wastes thrown around? Why are you exploiting communities that depend on temples and weakening the Hindu community@tnhrcedept?
15/26
Today a Hindu goes to a temple not because of his association with the temple but only because of his bhakthi towards the deity. The difference is subtle but this is what's preventing the Hindu from connecting with with the knowledge systems that are coded into the temples.
16/26
@tnhrcedept illegally squats on temples through an invalid law that's been struck down by courts. How is it different from the Mughals & the British illegally occupying and enslaving India? TNHRCE is nothing but a colonizer of the Temples, Hindu dharma and Hindu minds.
17/26
Of course @tnhrcedept was a British created institution to alienate temple management from the bhaktars. The British left us but their institution is still working to serve their purpose. I'm not going to ask the @tnhrcedept to leave the temples.
18/26
It's a sin that @tnhrcedept officials are trampling on the temples and the deities. They will pay for their sins through their karma. If they even have an iota of conscience they'll recognize the sins they commit. Rest is up to them.
19/26
Unless the Hindu community realizes how temples had been enriching our lives and how they are degraded today. What their true potential is and the opportunities they present, it's futile to ask the @tnhrcedept to leave temples.
20/26
Unless we realize the potential of our strength, the might of our bhakti and the duty that we have to our deities and the temples, it's no use asking the @tnhrcedept to leave.
21/26
Did the British leave because the Indians requested so? No, they left because they were forced to. Our forefathers fought so many battles and brought a situation where, for the British, there was NO OTHER OPTION BUT TO LEAVE.
22/26
If I, a non-brahmin, ex-periyarist has observed so much about temples in the past few years, how much a staunch Hindu has been observing? How much pain each one of us go through on a daily basis looking at the condition of the temples?
23/26
@tnhrcedept - Don't think Hindus don't see & won't speak. You can't continue this loot forever . When a Hindu speaks you will have no way but to run.
24/26
Hindus, do wake up and look around. See what all had been taken away from you. How owning your temples will do good for you, your community and this nation.
25/26
As Bharathiyar said, 'Unless you realize how mighty the dharmic organization was, you'll not realize how low it had been pulled down to'. Once you realize your potential, @tnhrcedept will have NO OTHER OPTION BUT TO LEAVE. I'm certain that day is not far.

I don't understand the critics of coloniality. Do they think that coloniality doesn't exist or is good for society or speaking about it will do bad?

If it's 3, then they are behaving with same the colonial conditioning...

(1/n)
To criticize our own OETs while take the external OETs at face value. Similar to the 'White man's burden' we do have a similar equivalent acronym from the colonised POV in Tamil, i.e. 'Vellaikaran Poi Solla Maattaan' or 'White man won't lie'

2/n
If it's 1 or 2, I see many examples where coloniality is plaguing the society

I'm as concerned as how we would decolonialize our society without giving undue advantage to a single community/demography. But I don't understand the problem in acknowledging coloniality.
