@POTUS just signed into law the historic #InflationReductionAct. I was proud, after a lot of hard work, this legislation included many of the priorities which I have championed for years. 🧵
$3 billion to electrify the Postal Service delivery fleet.

$975 million to support the deployment of emerging and sustainable technologies to help reduce emissions and cut costs for taxpayers.
$25 million to track the labor, equity, and environmental standards and performance of the Inflation Reduction Act.

$25 million to support implementation and track the equitable distribution of the economic, social, and environmental impacts of the funds.
$15 million in funding for the Postal Service Inspector General to conduct proper oversight of the program.

Right now, I am holding an @OversightDems hearing with the CEOs of two major gun manufactures. This hearing comes after a major investigation by the committee into the practices of gun manufacturers.

Today we released a report with some of our findings 👇
Our report shows that the gun industry has continued to make massive profits selling weapons of war to our communities. Companies like Daniel Defense and Ruger have amassed huge revenues selling AR-15 Style firearms, the weapon of choice for mass shooters.
Also disturbing are the selling practices used to push these weapons.

Daniel Defense, the manufacturer of the rifle purchased and used by the Uvalde shooter, offers its firearms for sale through a buy-now, pay-later, financing advertised on the front page of its website.

No one should worry that their period tracking or other health app data might be used to locate them at clinics or create digital breadcrumbs of interest in an abortion.

I’m investigating, starting with asking major apps and data brokers to provide info to @OversightDems.
A recent study found that 87% of the 23 most popular women’s health apps—including reproductive health apps—shared user data with third parties, yet just over 50% requested consent from their users.
And recent reporting indicates that data brokers have sold mobile phone location data from individuals who have visited health care clinics that provide abortions, leading to concerns about the misuse of private data to target individuals seeking this care.

The AR-15 style rifles used in Highland Park, Parkland, Aurora, and San Bernardino were made by @Smith_WessonInc.

I’m demanding their CEO attend our July 20 @OversightDems hearing.
The AR-15 style rifle used by the gunman in Uvalde was made by @DanielDefense. The Las Vegas shooter was also found with four AR-15-style rifles from DD, including one outfitted with a bump stock and a 100-round magazine.

I've called on their CEO to testify to @OversightDems.
The AR-15 style rifles used in the grocery store shooting in Boulder, CO last year and in the church shooting in Sutherland Springs, TX in 2017 were made by Ruger.

I’m calling on their CEO to testify as well.

NEWS: My bill to make gun trafficking and straw purchases a federal offense just received its first Republican cosponsor, @RepKinzinger. I’m going to be fighting hard as hell to make sure he is not the last.

I am thrilled to announce the winners of the 2022 Congressional Art Competition. My office received submissions from dozens of talented NY Students. This year’s first-place winner is titled “We the People” by Chloe Luterman, a junior at Columbia Prep. Congrats Chloe!
Our second-place winner is titled “Watching” and it is by Kaylee Kurys who is a junior at Saint Vincent Ferrer High School. Congrats Kaylee!
And our third-place winner is titled “Park Avenue Dogs” and it is by Chloe Makhlin who is a junior at The Hewitt School.

Until there is a final decision, abortion remains legal.

But if Roe is overturned, millions would lose the right to abortion overnight, falling hardest on the Black, Latino, Indigenous, LGBTQ+, & rural communities, young people, people w/ disabilities, & people w/ low incomes.🧵
Pregnant people will be forced to carry out their pregnancies, even in cases that put themselves or the baby at risk, or turn to unsafe & potentially deadly procedures.

We must codify the right to abortion into federal law before a final decision comes out. 2/4
Many of us warned that Roe was in danger and that assurances of it being settled law during confirmation hearings were nothing more than obvious deception.

We must expand the Court to protect the rights to abortion and contraception, to marry, to same-sex intimacy, & more. 3/4
