It is very short today because I am very busy with other things. But also, just not very much happened today. I am keeping only to the most important things.
Russia fired more artillery and rockets today than they have in a very long time.
North of the city, Russia claims to have captured Odnorobivka and Udy. My sources tell me Udy is in Ukrainian control, and I have heard nothing about Odnorobivka. Maybe Russia took it. I do not see evidence that they have.
South of Donetsk, Russia claims to have pushed up to the O0532 highway. I have not seen confirmation, but I believe the claim is accurate because Russia has pushed up this far before, and Ukraine stated Russia had “partial success” in attacking Novomykhailivka.
Russia attacked the entire Ukrainian bridgehead across the Inhulets River. I am unsure of the results of this attack.
Russia attacked Novohryhorivka from the southeast, which made me reevaluate the Ukrainian positions southeast of the town. Russia suffered high casualties in this attack and retreated.
Ukraine destroyed the old SBU building in Lysychansk today. Russia was using the building as an HQ.
In Melitopol, there were multiple explosions in the power substation, and then Russian propaganda television channels went off the air.
A large ammo depot, including several self-propelled guns and MLRS systems, exploded in Azovske, in Crimea. The railroad suffered minor damage, and I read trains to Crimea are suspended temporarily.
There were several explosions on the naval air base near Hvardiiske, Crimea. I do not know what was damaged here. After these two explosions, I saw images of Russians waiting in line to take a train back to Russia, but the pictures may be misleading.
West of Kyiv, Belarus fired several missiles into the Ukrainian airbase in Zhytomyr. The runway and several ground vehicles were damaged.
These are all of the major developments today. There were other minor attacks that you can see noted on the map if you open the link above.
Beyond the fun explosions and fires at the end of the day, not much happened today, so I will just post a few images as my "daily update". I have little to say. Russia failed every single attack and murdered a bunch of civilians. Otherwise, not much happened.
Kharkiv and Izyum areas. Just shelling, missiles, rockets, and murdering civilains.
Siversk and Bakhmut areas: Russian attacks all failed.
Russia fired missiles into civilians, laid minefields to slow the Ukrainian advance, and claim to have their own HIMARS.
If you would like to view the map, here is the (brand new, it should load faster!) link: google.com/maps/d/u/0/edi…
Today began and ended with significant missile strikes on civilian infrastructure.
This morning, Russia struck a recreational center in Zatoka, a town south of Odesa, with two Kh-22 missiles fired from Tu-22M3 strategic bombers. Russia claimed to have killed over 300 soldiers.
I don’t know how they could make such an estimate, even if it were true. However, I do not know of a military presence in this town, and I certainly do not see hundreds of bodies in the rubble.
The general state around Kharkiv has remained unchanged for many weeks, but the past day or two has been full of exciting fake news published by Russia. They claim to have captured Udy (1), but, oddly enough, the Ukrainian soldiers in Udy claim otherwise.
I see absolutely no evidence that Russia has captured Udy. Russia sent reconnaissance towards Pytomnyk as well (2).
I was going to post a full update today, but then the Igor thing happened and I spent a few hours laughing at it. Now it is getting late and I have other stuff I want to do tonight so I will post a very short update.
I will only talk about things that interest me as a mapper, this will not be a daily update. First, Russia shelled Velyki Prokhody and then attacked towards Pytomnyk. This is weird. I interpret it as Russia trying to establish control over the outskirts of Velyki Prokhody.
I created significantly more gray area around Dovhenke, Mazanivka, Krasnopillya, and Dolyna. I'm not really sure what is going on there, but there hasn't been much news lately.
In the Izyum area, there is a media blackout, so it is hard to confirm rumors about changes in the front line. However, Russia did fail to attack Dolyna and Bohorodychne. BTW I’m not using numbers today because I am lazy.
Russia is attacking all the same areas as usual in the Siversk area. Ever since capturing Lysychansk, Russia has had limited success in this area.
