The GreatLittleColoradoRoadTrip™ is underway. Couldn’t decide between recommendations for Vazquez and Burrito Betty’s in Pueblo so we got both. A good choice.
The Dunes after a little rain are beautiful. And it’s always fun seeing them again through the eyes of someone visiting for the first time.
Sisnaajini
White Shell Mountain
Blanca Peak
Where the sun rose in the East over Diné land. Have always thought it was one of Colorado’s prettiest peaks. Today, socked in with clouds. Still pretty.
Ducked a rain shower at a place in Alamosa serving cold barley soup. Reunited after many years with @slvbrewingco’s Valle Caliente, a Mexican Lager with Hatch chile. Fantastic.
Crestone, you are a funky, fun little town. Like a Boulder or an Ithaca boiled down to a concentrate.
Wrapped up Day One in a favorite place: Salida. Dinner at an old favorite (Amica’s) and a drink at a new-ish favorite (Tres Litros). Tomorrow we head west.
Not sure when reading by the sound of water became the most relaxing thing to me. But it is. Day Two starts with some of that and breakfast from a frequent stop whenever we’re in Salida (Bunny & Clyde’s).
Didn’t expect a few hours in Gunnison but a bit of car trouble dictated otherwise. Huge thanks to Dan at GunnyLube who helped us out. And lucky us, we had time for coffee at Tributary, sandwiches from Firebrand (fine idea from folks here), and a great IPA at @HighAlpineBrew.
Walking around Montrose, there is so much art tucked here and there, large and small, public and private.
What’s up with the Montrose McDonald’s only having one arch? According to articles, it’s one of only a dozen of the 38,000 McDonald’s locations to have the original arch design. eatthis.com/states-rare-mc…
Back to @BlackCanyonNPS for one of my favorite hikes, but for the first time at sunrise.
The hike down to the Gunnison and back out is spicy but being in total solitude along the river is worth it. Always fun to take someone along for the first time.
I dislike food photos on Twitter, but I need tell you to stop at GNAR for tacos the next time you’re passing through Ridgway. Just believe me on this. (Get the Elk, no tag needed)
The San Juans are socked in today. Quick pit stop in Telluride to pick up America’s best Brown Ale at @TellurideBrew. (Apologies if you have another favorite Brown Ale and are wrong)
Been a long time since I’ve driven the San Juan Skyway. Trout Lake is still pull-over-worthy.
Love walking into a brewery knowing nothing about their beer and walking out a fan. Dolores River Brewery is excellent. The ESB and Kolsch especially. Bringing some back to Denver for the #HeyNext team.
Chapin Mesa, the busy side of Mesa Verde National Park, often has daytime crowds. And sensitive sites are gated off before 8am. But the Spruce Canyon Trail was open for a trail run at first light followed by a hike to Petroglyph Point. Go early to see the park without people.

Colorado's KNUS-AM played a key role in boosting unsupported claims that the 2020 election was rigged by Denver-based Dominion Voting Systems. KNUS' owner, Salem Radio, is now offering an apology and retraction.
Several KNUS hosts platformed Joe Oltmann, the podcaster from Douglas County, who claimed to have overheard an Antifa conference call where a Dominion exec bragged about rigging the election. (Yes, this was the same claim central to Mike Lindell's defamation judgment this week)
Oltmann stands by his election rigging claims and has called for the mass executions of his perceived political opponents - from specific elected officials to journalists. Oltmann has talked of killing people by hanging and dragging them behind his vehicle until dismembered.
NEW: MyPillowGuy Mike Lindell found liable for defamation for his statements about Dominion Voting Systems executive Eric Coomer. Federal jury orders Lindell to pay $2.3M, far less than the $62.7M requested by Coomer’s attorneys.
Jurors found Lindell engaged in civil conspiracy with his company FrankSpeech to broadcast the defamatory claims but did not find MyPillow liable as requested by the plaintiff’s team
Lindell claims to have vaporized his $50-60M fortune pursuing election rigging claims and is $10M in debt. Plaintiff’s attorney said there’s no way to know if he has money because they can’t see audited financial statements from his companies
Day 10 of MyPillowGuy Mike Lindell’s election rigging defamation trial in Denver began with a failed attempt by Lindell’s team to bring him back to the stand. US District Court Judge Nina Wang rejected that saying Lindell had covered the issue at hand in his 2+ days in the stand.
The defense then rested and, outside the presence of the jury, asked the judge to toss the defamation cases against Lindell’s companies, FrankSpeech and MyPillow.
The defense again argued that Lindell wasn’t reckless with his election rigging claims. “They’re trying to hold Mr Lindell to the standard of a PhD. He has a high school education,”attorney Chris Kachouroff said. “He did the best he could.”
Day 8 of MyPillow Guy Mike Lindell’s election rigging defamation trial in Denver begins. Lindell is on the stand for a third day. The judge is expected to rule on the admissibility of clips from Lindell’s election conspiracy theory documentaries.
I’d like to take this moment to express my thanks to my pillow, not to be confused with MyPillow. The wood benches in federal court are like something out of an 1800s church, the kind where you hear more about God’s wrath than God’s love. This pillow has literally saved my a—.
Jurors heard video testimony from Dennis Montgomery, who claims to have created a software program used by the CIA to rig elections worldwide. He says Lindell bought it from him for $1.5M. A deep dive on Montgomery's infamous, well-chronicled history: reuters.com/investigates/s…
This morning one of my girls put maple syrup on the dog. And that might not be the most bizarre thing I witness today. Day 7 of MyPillow Guy Mike Lindell’s election rigging defamation trial in Denver begins shortly. Lindell is still on the stand.
Reminder: I try to relay key moments in the trial, but I am not logging every development here. For that, check out my talented colleague @TheMarissaSol’s rolling coverage here: 9news.com/article/news/p…
Lindell’s counsel is trying to guide him through how he came to believe elections are rigged. Lindell is being constantly scolded by the judge for not directly answering questions and going on monologues.
Day 6 of MyPillow guy Mike Lindell‘s election rigging defamation trial in Denver begins now. Lindell is expected to take the stand today. On Friday, jurors heard testimony from a cyber security analyst who said he was punished when he challenged Lindell’s claims.
For those curious, the featured item of the day being sold to support Lindell is the king size pillow. The MyCross necklace also remains 50% off.
Mike Lindell is on the stand in his election rigging defamation trial. Lindell says he’s drained his entire fortune chasing claims of election rigging. “I went from a net worth of $50M to $10M in the hole and I’ve lost everything,” Lindell said.
