NEWS: A Ukrainian military intelligence official tells @NBCNews that Russia has told its nuclear workers stationed at Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant NOT to go to work tomorrow
@NBCNews Andriy Yusov, a spokesman for Ukraine's military intelligence directorate, tells me they received information a half-hour ago that Russia directed the Rosatom (Russia's state-run nuclear company) officials at ZNPP not to show up tomorrow
@NBCNews This comes after Russia said Ukraine was planning a provocation tomorrow at the plant. Ukrainian officials believe that's Russia laying the groundwork to conduct a false flag operation there tomorrow and blame it on Ukraine

NEW: It is "past time" for US citizens to leave #Ukraine, senior @StateDept official says (1/4)
@StateDept “It appears increasingly likely that this is where this situation is heading, towards some type of active conflict,” senior @StateDept official says, explaining decision to withdraw most US diplomats (2/4)
@StateDept In an active war zone, US government will have “very little ability” to help US citizens in danger, official says. Emphasizes the US military won’t be coming in to rescue people at the last minute (3/4)
I try not to tweet about daily inconveniences, but this experience has been insane.
For the last 7+ hours, I've been stuck in my car, not moving, in a total shutdown of I-95 northbound about 30 miles south of DC. (1)
There's nothing to do but tweet at this point, so why not a thread.
The interstate is absolutely littered with disabled vehicles. Not just cars. Semis, everything. Nobody can move. People are running out of gas or abandoning vehicles. (2)
People (myself included) are taking exercise breaks outside their cars, walking their dogs on the interstate.
I've been putting snow in his bowl and letting it melt into water. (3)
BREAKING: 2 US lawmakers tell @NBCNews that fired Inspector General Steve Linick told Congress today that before he was ousted, he’d informed at least three top Pompeo aides that he was reviewing Pompeo and his wife’s use of government resources
@NBCNews The revelation potentially undercuts Pompeo’s public claim to have been unaware that Linick was looking into that issue when he asked Trump to fire Linick.
Pompeo has said he had “no sense of what investigations were taking place inside the Inspector General’s Office.”
Linick told Congress that months before he was fired, he’d informed Under Secretary Bulatao, Executive Secretary Kenna, and Deputy Secretary Biegun about what Linick described as a “review of use of resources by Pompeo and his wife,” a lawmaker who questioned Linick tells me
THREAD:
Who is Anthony de Caluwe, the Trump superfan and international man of mystery whose encrypted texts claiming to have Ambassador Yovanovitch under surveillance triggered investigations in two countries? (1/19)
When the texts first came out 2 weeks ago, de Caluwe first denied sending them, then acknowledged he did, but said it was just a joke - "ridiculous banter" with his friend Rob Hyde, a GOP congressional candidate he'd met at Trump events (2/19)
Little was known about de Caluwe at the time, but for hundreds of photos and posts on social media about Trump.
At the time, de Caluwe and his spokeswoman said he had nothing to do surveilling people and "no connection to Ukraine." (3/19)
THREAD:
Robert Hyde today pointed the finger at a guy named Anthony de Caluwe, saying he merely copy-pasted Yovanovitch info from him & sent to Parnas. Hyde told me he met de Caluwe at a Trump fundraiser & at Trump hotel in DC (1/7) nbcnews.to/2G6Lzpb
De Caluwe is Belgian, one of his friends told me. His Facebook is all pro-Trump photos and slogans. Another person he's pictured with told me he saw the guy frequently at Trump events (2/7)
I reached de Caluwe, who confirmed Hyde asked him for Yovanovitch info. "He asked me if I would know where she is, because she has information to help President Trump to provide evidence on the investigation on some persons Stateside. I informed him it’s against the law." (3/7)
