#GenshinLore thoughts on Sumeru Adventure Journal Vol 3

What if… the ominous power causing The Withering in Sumeru is similar to the same power behind delusions?

The Withering — resulting from Tumors of the Withering — causes a decrease in all resistances & max HP of party

🧵 Image
“Decay” in Sumeru gradually decreases resistances to ALL damage + decreasing max HP… is kind of similar to the aging effect of delusions

Aging… a point in life most noticeable when the body starts deteriorating.

A process expedited by using delusions.

I don’t think —
— it’s a stretch to say that:
1. Resistance decrease to all = bodily aging/weakness
2. Max HP decrease = lifespan

So if they are similar, then how do the Tumors of Withering connect to Delusions?

— Looking at a definition for tumor we have:
An abnormal mass of tissue that forms when cells grow and divide more than they should or do not die when they should

With that definition in mind, let’s look at the Delusion users we’ve seen that have enoug bg to analyze. —
— First, Signora and Childe:
Both had element/abyss/vision powers before, and they used their delusions often enough without any signs of aging (Signora = all the time). They also had said powers prior to receiving Delusion

As for Teppei, —
— he had no capability to wield the elements, and his delusion killed him from old age fairly quickly

Compared to the other two, Teppei using the elements (or the power given by delusions in general) was abnormal… and the more he used it the more he deteriorated —
— so his use of powers abnormal to him caused him to deteriorate, and built up to the point there was no chance of saving him

So using “power where there should be none” gradually destroyed him

And yet, the traveler/party still get dang despite elemental power… —
— which could possibly mean:
1. The Decay effect didn’t affect signora or Childe because their powers aren’t fully tied to visions

*side note: Childe FL form might have a similar weakness effect to him as delusions did to teppei since Abyss pwr is counter to element/vision* —
— 2. The decay is affecting vision users in Sumeru because it’s being dispersed through the environment

Not as good in theory, since it doesn’t hold much weight after the GAA mirage/madness creating machine event… but that did also show dreams and madness are made of similar —
— substance… it’s just whether or not you have the “willpower” to overcome the adversities in life

Regardless, teppei had issues because he used something he shouldn’t. Whether it was type of power, or bc it belong to ded god who’s pwr was abnormal… the delusion was a tumor —
Oh and also how Kusanali said the GAA powers were related to her + Dendro power counters The Withering

BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY… Seed Mirrors can be used to spot a Tumor of Withering before it appears

Seed (moment) Mirror (parallel/reflection): an item that can identify where — Image
— Tumor of Withering will be created based on analyzing “moments” on the parallel/infinite tree of possibilities … accomplished by the Irminsul/imaginary tree connection to dendro perhaps?

Wow this seed mirror idea is… I need to think on this more 🧐

// Genshin Candace

With the new Candace leaks out, I wanted to share a small 🧵to clear up some misunderstandings on the origin of her name

Candace (Kandake) was actually a royal title used to refer to Queens or Queen Mothers, not the name of a specific historical figure!

🧵 Image
The Kandakes / Candaces, were the warrior queens or queen mothers of the ancient African Kingdom of Kush during the Meroitic Period.

As a matrilineal society, their children were next in line for the throne, and they held absolute authority within the kingdom. Image
However, the Candace title became mistranslated as a name due to references such as “Candace, Queen of Ethiopia” or “Queen Candace”

Thus, the name Candace came into existence from a mistranslation Image
