Covid isn’t a single event. It’s a trigger. It triggers new medical conditions. Preexisting conditions are exacerbated. It reactivates latent viruses. You age decades. Dysfunctional immune systems may not fend off pathogens efficiently in the future. It ends in premature death.
Now consider we have no idea what the future holds for survivors. We have no idea what fresh horrors Covid’s (still unknown) late effects will bring. We have no idea what will happen to babies & KIDS in the coming decades following countless reinfections. We are so, so dumb.
People are OBSESSED with severity, celebrating mild to moderate infections, triumphantly proclaiming they won against Covid, but the triggers have still been activated.
An AFP science reporter is coming after this tweet. Where’s the misinformation?

Talking to loved ones about sending kids to school goes like this. They insist kids need to be in school. I’ll say “Ignoring pandemics doesn’t make them go away. How do we stay safe?” They don’t have an answer, they skip straight to “I don’t know. They have to go to school.”
There is NO logical thinking occurring whatsoever. I’m expected to sacrifice my lives & the lives of my kids because that’s how it’s supposed to be. People aren’t thinking things through, & there’s A LOT of magical thinking going on.
When I mention there won’t be any mitigations, that doesn’t matter either. It’s always this one-track, OBSESSIVE focus on insisting everyone must attend America’s public schools in person, even when it’s not safe. Pay tribute. Sacrifice. Die & disable your kids for the system.

Here’s my previous thread on Covid in jails & prisons. Many Jails & prisons believe Covid is “the greatest thing that has ever happened to us.”
2022 really has a lot of “Hurry up and die!” vibes, and the incarcerated, disabled, unhoused, & Immunocompromised are at the top of the list.

American public health is based on individualism, so we’re trained to think of pandemic viruses solely in terms of how they affect us individually. And FEAR is often presented as the real problem.

As schools prepare to reopen, according to the CDC, 7-day test positivity is 16.78% in the US. Some areas are over 25%. There is very little testing, & no public health measures.

The key on their 7-day positivity map starts at 5%-7.9%, & it’s only for 2 states. It’s a tricky map.
In May, an influential modeling group at the University of Washington estimated only 13% of cases are reported. When you see the US is reporting over 100,000 new cases daily, it’s safe to conclude the real numbers are much, much higher. apnews.com/article/covid-…

Parents are sending kids back to school, believing with their whole hearts kids can’t get monkeypox & they won’t get Covid anymore either. The Biden admin is focused on midterms, but mass infecting kids with Covid AND monkeypox isn’t a winning strategy. Your advisors are lying.
Once people begin to REALLY get acquainted with monkeypox, they’re going to be furious.
I am having a really hard time with the people who get on social media repeating “There is no evidence monkeypox spreads in children,” like some kind of deranged mantra that doesn’t even makes sense. YES kids get monkeypox, and YES it spreads among children. Where have you been?
