The learnings are immense. Today, India is among just 5 or 6 countries which can build an Aircraft Carrier.
Built at a cost of Rs 20000 crores, it is 262 meters long, 62 meters wide and displaces 45000 tons.

What could have been built elsewhere in 10 years, took us 13 years. But we also shaved off 2 1/2 billion from the estimated 5 1/2 billion dollars it could have cost to build it elsewhere.

Cochin Shipyard now has a Rs. 1800 crores dry dock, spread across 15 acres which can construct much bigger aircraft carriers.
Vikrant has STOBAR(Short Tale Off But Arrested Recovery) configuration with a ski jump to give aircraft extra lift during take-off.
