FSB claims they've solved the assassination of Darya Dugina, here's what they're saying:
Actually very smart to use a woman traveling with a child (wonder if it's actually her daughter), unlikely to raise suspicion at the border & checkpoints. Especially if they entered as refugees like millions of others.
Looks like they entered Russia with DPR license plates, too. Even less likely to be thoroughly checked.
There are around two million refugees from Donbass/Ukraine in Russia right now. Not the first time in recent history that refugee streams have been used as cover for terrorists, either.
A car that fits the description with the Ukrainian license plate the FSB named is currently on sale in Kiev, the seller has the same surname as Vovk's daughter.
Natalia Vovk (born Shaban) was identified as a member of Azov Regiment by Russian OSINT back in April. Once again, internet autists more effective than the state...
Huge fuckup by the Russian Border Guard. I get that they're overwhelmed by the massive amounts of refugees but it's a sign of massive incompetence that even half a year after the beginning of the war they're still not in counter-terrorism mode.
Although she most likely had false documents. But still... Also had to pass a bunch of checkpoints in the DPR if she entered from there.
Member of the Russian Federation Council Vladimir Dzhabarov: "If Estonia does not extradite Dugina's assassin to Russia, there are grounds for harsh actions against Tallinn for harboring this terrorist"
(nothing will happen)
FSB has published a video with footage they obtained of the suspect entering & leaving Russia at border checkpoints (routinely filmed by Border Guard agents), plus CCTV footage of her entering the house in which Darya Dugina lived.
(reposting the tweet without the link as apparently people are getting banned for posting or linking it)
From what we know, she entered Russia as a blonde with Donetsk People's Republic license plates, drove around Russia with Kazakh license plates & left for Estonia as a brunette with Ukrainian license plates.
One of the official Azov Telegram channels denies knowing the woman and says that the assassination was a provocation to "prepare the Russian public for the trial against Azov members". Are they implying that before this Russians loved Azov? Lol
At least the suspect's family member (brother? son? unclear) who put up the car she used in Russia for sale has been definitely confirmed to be a member of Azov through various Ukrainian media reports and photos.
A RIA reporter visited the suspect's family in Mariupol; they confirmed that she was employed by the Ukrainian Armed Forces and said that she left "for Europe", as she said, about a month ago without telling anyone details
Possible that she isn't a member of Azov since they're part of the National Guard and not AFU and it's just her family member who is an Azovite. Or she didn't tell her family. No proof either way
According to the FSB, the suspect entered Russia on July 23rd, so that matches her cousin's statement that she left "about a month ago".
Yes this is true, I hadn't noticed that part on her military ID.
A few sources are claiming that the suspect's military ID is fake, but the original posters just published another batch of Azov military IDs that seem authentic & check out & also other documents relating to her identity. Tbh not weird for a spy to have confusing paperwork

After the dissolution of the USSR, the US seized the opportunity to re-educate and indoctrinate young and bright students from formerly hostile countries.
A lot of programs were established to "Spread democracy", "Teach post-soviet kids American values" etc
One of the most successful programs of this kind was FLEX. They literally decided to flex on their enemy's grave. Future Leaders Exchange entailed bringing 15–19 year-old students from the former Eastern Block over to the US to live with a host family and attend US high school
There were a lot of Russian, Ukrainian, Armenian, and Georgian students competing for a spot. Attending a random American public school free of charge for a year seemed like a dream come true for utterly demoralized people from those countries in the 1990s
Going through this new WaPo article on Ukrainian terror attacks inside Russia. Interesting combination of bragging about how great the CIA is but also trying to create distance from what the SBU is actually doing. washingtonpost.com/world/2023/10/…
The CIA are nice guys, unlike the SBU. Training, providing advanced surveillance equipment & intel, supplying explosives, sure! But to press the button... God forbid. “Local excesses”, as they said under Stalin. The world hegemon hides behind the bicolor rag again. How American.
The author knows little about the history of post-Soviet intelligence agencies; the FSB was basically built from scratch in the 90s (by the former head of the Ukrainian KGB, by the way), while the SBU basically is the UkrSSR's KGB.
We started RWA three years ago. Originally, it had nothing to do with any kind of war reporting or snarky political commentary. The purpose of RWA was to make Russian culture & history more accessible to an interested audience; in a way that wouldn't feel like walking through a museum or reading a NYT article. Our audience back then was small but active, and we produced some of our best episodes back when we only had 1% of our current follower count on Twitter. So, as discussed on our last stream, we decided to post some of our older content we'd like to highlight that you may have missed:
RUSSIAN VOLUNTEERS, PART I: Russians participating in foreign conflicts in the age of romantic nationalism: the Greek War of Independence, Garibaldi’s invasion, the Balkans, the War between the States. The history of Russian-Boer relations, and the common fight against perfidious Albion.
RUSSIAN VOLUNTEERS, PART III: White and Red Russians fighting for a common cause in Xinjiang. The Soviet-Tsarist LARP army in the Chinese Warlord Era. White and Red Russians fighting each other in Spain; what White émigrés thought about fighting for Franco.
Armenia doesn't want to be friends with Russia because it wants to be friends with Russia's enemies instead. Russia's enemies are coincidentally also allied to Armenia's mortal enemy. People in Artsakh will suffer greatly because of this & Armenia might cease to exist as a state
Meanwhile, the Armenian media establishment pushes a shameless “Russia has betrayed Armenia and is supporting Azerbaijan” narrative, while Azerbaijan, a borderline Western satrapy, allied to Turkey & Israel, is gearing up for war again, & Armenia isn't preparing at all...
